I think the tv Tigger was having probs was the same model as yours. So far the only people that seem to have experienced the prob have all been using Sammy lcd's.....whilst I'm guessing the hdmi input works with other sources is it maybe possible there's a compatability prob with the PS3?

Might be worth contacting Samsung to see if it's a known problem.

        What about?

Perhaps you are feeding the LCD TV an incompatable resolution. That set is 1366 X 768 isnt it ? It probably wont like 1080P at all, try sending it 720P?

        Good Luck !

Thanks Paulus, but it was 720p I was trying!

Anyway, I just phoned Sammy about it - they claimed that my TV is incapable of displaying 60hz, then accused me of lying when I said it was working fine through component. ****ing muppets!

It has to support 60Hz to even get HD-Ready certification.

I know mate, that's what I told them!

I decided to stop talking to that particular muppet though, and phone them back. Apparently it might be a firmware issue, as I have the oldest firmware available for my set (it still has that tearing issue with component that I never got around to getting fixed), so they're sending the latest firmware out on a CD for me to update it. If that doesn't work, they've said that they'll find me someone to come out and take a look at the port itself.

Hmm i appear to have this same problem but I have the N7 series.

Back to component it is then

I'm using the HDMI input on my PS3 with my Samsung 26" LE26R41BDX with no problems at all.

I have a 26" samsung, when I gave hdmi a go I turned everything off and plugged in the hdmi and then put the power on and went to the hdmi channel and there it was. On my Samsung screen it looks better via componant imo.

Bah this is pretty annoying , not sure if its a faulty cable or my tv. It only allows 480p through hdmi , but if i reset the display and let it automatically set up the hdmi settings, it flickers on and off when its 1080i. It loaded up Resistance since it was in the drive and it was in 1080i still but the tv kept flickering as if it couldnt keep the signal.

So could it be my cable thats faulty?

                        To set up HDMI:

                        -Turn everything off
-Unplug the AV cable so that only HDMI is connecting the PS3 to the TV
-Turn the TV on and set to HDMI input
-Power on the PS3 button but hold down the power button till it beeps a second time, you should be holding the button at least 5 secs
                        -Follow the on screen prompts

Imagine my surprise when the above method didn't work.

Hmm still can't get it to work. Not sure if i want to spend more money on a cable for it not to work...

Really does sound like a TV firmware thing tbh.

Just tried it on the tv downstairs which is the same model but with a newer firmware since we only bought it recently and the cable still doesnt work. Gonna send it back and try another i think. Hopefully its that and not the PS3
