What sort of quality do you get from your projector? I've thought about getting one put I've read that the quality isn't usually so hot!
I get a cracking quality picture on my hd projector(considering the size and how close i have to sit to it)cant fault it.
Watching hd movies is such a joy on a big screen,i can well recommend a projector if you have the space, also a quality screen is essential.

Got the desk from staples, took me hours to assemble and one big headache.

You should hook your PC up to the projector lol!

they'll do as black as the best lcds these days and darker. obviously if you're sat in a light room it ain't gonna do it justice, but in a properly darkened room the effect is pant-wettingly good.

i tried that, it was fun for a while but for whatever reason playing quake 3 at 92" was just too much

            Lol, I can imagine.

Will the new Time Crisis work on a screen like that?

Well it was worth trying I suppose. I only really suggested it as rd365dav has it right behind his desk in the picture...

              Curses,

Just as I convince the missus into buying a ncie 40" Samsung I see the projector and start drooling. How much and where from for screen and projector.

92" FFS . I would not be seen again ever. I can see me calling the missus on the mob to bring some food up to the games room as I would not be able to tear my self away from the screen.

Playing Quantum Redshift on my projector used to make me motion sick! Unfortunately we moved, and just don't have a decent space for a projector any more

Yeah, the new TC will work on a projector screen. It works in precisely the same way as the Wii.

f-zero gx is a firm favourite for full on immersion and 'rolling with the corners' action. scary stuff.

You so know it, 1st person view is insane.

Is anyone using the Sony KDL 40W2000 LCD TV?

I ask because I'm about to buy one soon. If anyone could give me their impressions of it then that would be really helpful.

Yes, my impressions in full : http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=63698

Or in brief: I think it's great and if you get one without panel faults, the only inherent design faults are ones I can easily live with.

                            Thanks Lyris!

As someone who regularly visits DVDtimes.co.uk I'd already seen your excellent and very thorough review back in April.

Could you please elaborate on what I have to look for with regards to the 'panel faults'.

I've heard that it's something to do with a cloudy effect that presents itself on a black/very dark screen, but I've read that ALL the KDL40W200s suffer from this, some more than others - Can you please confirm if this is the case?

It's not much, but it's mine

Please excuse the wiring, it's not as bad as that now, I took this pic a couple of months ago, after i'd just put the TV in.

                                Sony KDF50E2010.
                                Xbox 360 + HD-DVD add on.
Samsung HD850 (for my multi-regional needs).
                                Sony Playstation 3.
                                Nintendo Wii.
Sony STRDE598 amp with some big Sony speakers that are fairly good (although my centre speaker broke, i'll get round to replacing it one day).
Stand is a generic cheapy that the TV fits perfect, much better the garbage supplied one (I mean, ONE shelf?!).

I'll post whats left of my retro setup in the next few days, after i've moved it from the fire damaged room into another room.
