Does Roost LCD have DVI input?

      Thanks!

No it doesn't, but it has HDMI which is backwards compatible.

If you have a DVI device that you want to use, you can buy a DVI to HDMI cable and use that. The HDMI socket has analog RCA audio inputs beside it, so you won't miss out on sound by doing it that way. Of course HDMI carries the sound as well, so if your device is true HDMI you won't need to do that.

Feel I should clarify this. HDMI is the latest and greatest connection standard. DVI is the old middle-of-the-road solution. But the two both use digital video that's compatible with each other.

Not fully technically right but yes compatibility is the main point/benift.

HDMI is really more the consumer version of DVI. It supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare (5Gbps) to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

DVI got incorporated in some products as HDMI wsnt fully ready to be implemented, now that it has DVI will remain more with the computer industry.

Lyris are both the SCARTS RGB? or just one?

                    Ta.

Thanks for that Rad, wasn't 100% aware of that history.

Only one of the SCART sockets is RGB. The other is fairly useless - Composite video only (albeit nicely comb filtered). I imagine that's intended for hooking up a standard VCR.

I don't get the reason for not including 2 RGB Scarts iun TVs now. It's so bloody annoying. Both my 28" TV's have only 1 RGB and it's annoying if you ever have to switch about.

I want to buy an LCD HD ready tv around Xmas time, what is the likelyhood of a similar deal from empire direct for the 32" samsung lcd tv?

I don't get it either. I've actually never owned a TV with more than one RGB Scart input.

The thing is, when you start getting high resolution displays, you will want to use the format less and less. Two Scart sockets IMHO is just taking up space - one is fair enough for RGB Digital TV decoders, but they should be including more Component inputs now IMHO. The people spending this sort of money on displays would probably appreciate that more.

There'll probably be a nice new model out by then. A bargain like this comes around once in a blue moon though. You should maybe consider putting your name down for one of these now?

But by christmas time, TV's of that spec will be around the ?800 mark anyway hopefully.
