Seems pretty decent, although hardly essential.

I'm not going to bother, think its just better PS1 emulation from what I've read.

Until I have a game that needs it, or theres a big new feature, I'll hold off.

Yeah it is mostly just the psx emulation, alot more games that were having problems are working now. The battle swirl in final fantasy 7 work too

I've got it and have been running it today. Apart from the fact that it's 3.30 rather than 3.10, the only thing you'll be likely to notice is that there are some added options for the PS1 emulation. Notably you can choose to make it speed up the loading rather than emulate the PS1 drive speed. I tried a couple of games with it turned on and couldn't tell the difference to be honest.

Do it if you're like me and just have to have the latest. Otherwise you're not really missing anything by sticking to 3.03 or 3.10 OE.

I've updated too. The other addition is the support for higher resolution
videos. Either 480x272 (which was hacked in, the last OE) and 720x480.
The only downer is, seems the psp doesn't like resolution between these
            (640x360 for instance)...

That's great that it supports 720x480. I'm sure it's just a convenient coincidence that that happens to be the resolution of DVDs, albeit NTSC ones

I'd been playing around with putting recordings off my PVR onto the PSP in 480x272 H.264 and prerecorded/studio stuff looks lovely. Sports can be a bit pixellated but that's Freeview for you.

If it's fixed the battle swirl and Tifa's limit break system for FFVII then its good enough for me!

It's been out for a couple of weeks or so I think? Seems like ages ago that I downloaded it.

This is about the custom firmware, the hacked version of 3.30. The official one did come out a couple of weeks ago but this is much, much better

Right...not really got into the hacking PSPs as I have one of the early Jap releases and they seem to like the fact that you can emulate games on it lol.

As for the PS1 speedup thingy I think it depends on the game, GT2 US doesn't seem to load faster nor does R4 JAP.

There's really no version not to use this hacked firmware if you can. It has all the features of the official one, all the benefits of 1.0/1.5, and many of its own (direct ISO loading, recovery mode, custom XMB icons, etc). It's worth it for the perfect CPS-1/CPS-2/Neo Geo emulation

The new firmware doesn't let you run MS6 on the anthology. The last one did.

                              Hey guys,

I've always wanted to get a hacked firmware on my PSP in order to try out the homebrew/emus/PS1 games etc... but I have not got the first clue about what the process/do's, don'ts are of downgrading/upgrading/gettings emus/ps1 games to run are....

...any sites that have start to finish walkthroughs for getting a custom firmware installed on your PSP?

FYI my machine is a UK PSP currently running the official Sony firmware Version 3.30...is it too late for me to get 3.30 OE-A on my PSP?

                              Advice appreciated.

                              T

EDIT - just googled and seems that even though official 3.30 firmware has now been hacked....there isnt a downgrader yet. Oh well. =p
