As I said they are compatible though, PCformat got it wrong that rumour is over 2 and a half months old (that started circulating in beginning of August).

I would say your really pushing it at 400w you might just be lucky. Depends what else your running. 8800 will eat 150w easliy on its own rest of PC at least 150w and you want 150 spare for demand. Also you want a really good 12v rail whats consistent.

Put it like this I had to go from a 330w to a 550 just for a 6800 ultra 3yrs ago (Tagan model again) but they actually ate more power than a 8800gtx reccomended is around 500w max needed for one card. When I got my new PC I slapped a 1200w one in for future proofing for SLI but I have a hell of a lot of stuff running inside and out on my PC as well. Im a big fan of Tagan. I went overkill though. Plenty to choose from here

You might want to try it first though with your 400w if it shuts itself off/resets under heavy load on a demanding game you know it cant cope. A lot of it depends on the 12volt rail though if its stable or not as a cheap brand no matter how powerfull will be very unstable.

I dont know what your budget is for a PSU but theirs 2 nice Tagan 700w models (you might as well go for around that then at least you can SLI later for the sake of ?10 more than a less powerfull one, all you can eat future proof for years would be something in the region of 900w for ?20 more reason I got a 1200w one was it was free if I bought the case so cant argue at that lol).

I have absolutely no problems at all using my Asus 8800 gtx's, in sol or sli, and using the asus enhanced drived, when i tried using the Nvidia drivers, games would not start at all, dx 9 would play then crash, and dx 10 games would play for 2 seconds and then crash, so the moral od the story, if you have an asus card and driver , you are sorted.

Still the new Nvidia dsrivers should work with your card, what i would do is take your card back to the retailer, or send it back, whatever, and then get it tested.

If it is fine, you have to restore vista without the card in and uninstall the drivers first, then reinsert the card, and reload the drivers.

There is nothing wrong with the card its a driver issue with Vista like I was saying many people have the same problem

Well I never, you are right Dazzyman, the Nvidia site seems to be behind other sites for having the latest Nvidia drivers. How dumb is that?!

EVGA add their own stuff to em, their usually much more stable and of course the updates come out quickest. Their also the same with the nforce drivers and bios udates ie 680i board their miles ahead of Asus

Yes EVGA are good, but I disagree with you about them being better then Asus, Asus, have the best variety of motherboard's, and product's and they alway's are quick to sort out any bios problem's or product driver problem's, my personal opinion of course.

I am not a fan of 680i, I have to high end system's now, one with the striker extreme 680i chipset, which is awesome, but i prefer my p5nt WS, which uses the 650i and 570 MCP combo to create near identical 680i performance, and is far more flexible for me, being a orkstation board and giving me the option of using my PCI-X equipment. Also allow's triple pci ecpress x16 slot's. and I have managed to get it overclocked fiurther than the 680i chipset, with the right cooling of course.

I like EVGA stuff, and rate it highly(very highly, my pinion, between them and Asus is miniscule) though, i think Asus is the best and gives us pc builder's professionally more option's, and are easier to repair people's problem's with vista as Asus have been so quick to act on any Vista difficulties, so from a profeesional and personal standpoint, I prefer Asus.

Also Asus have done special warranty situation's for me, organised through my asus centre abroad, such as replacing motherboard's with bent lga 775 pins, which no other manafacturer i have worked with wil do.

It's a matter of preference at the nd of the day, and also having sampled Asus's Maximus boards with the new Intel X38 chipset, has reaffirmed by opinion that Asus is miles ahead. Their X38 boards offer amazing performance for gamer's and their chipset cooling on the board's is nothing short of revolutionary due to the heat the chipset can produce.

The only thing I can agree with people on is Asus high end is expensive, more so than people like EVGA, and on this issue, I suppose it comes down on whther you can affoard the extra, I think it is worth it due to the quality of their MB and gPU products and their warranty for proffesional customer's.
