Cheers for the link, lots of useful stuff on there. Been managing to find out how to do most things by myself though (which is good for my computing pride) and reading through threads on various forums. I'm glad I got a Mac, learning to use a new OS after all this time is great fun

The only thing I'm missing at the moment is a lightweight finance programme. I'd been using MS Money 97 on Windows since... umm... 1997 probably!

Apologies if this has already been asked (and answered) before, but are there actually any decent and reliable used Mac retailers in the UK - excluding ebay, the Apple refurb store and CEX.

      Cheers.

This company definitely had a different name, but a few years back they were known as a quality supplier. I think it's the same one. The website certainly looks the same: http://forevermac.com/

Also, Cancom did do refurb Macs, but I can't find them on their site now.

Thanks for the reply, but fear their site hasn't been updated for a few years.

Have seen Cancom already thanks, had forgotten about them.

I was using a mac at my old my job for the last nine years and had to replace my crappy Acer laptop recently. So I got a new macbook white from the local iStore (finally) and haven't looked back since!

You can use any mouse you want on a Mac, it doesn't matter. I'm using an ooold Microsoft usb laser mouse and it's fine. It also lets you right-click in OSX just like Windows and use the scroll wheel as normal (including clicking the scroll wheel's button), so you can just buy whatever mouse you like the look of without worrying. I think if you have extra buttons on your mouse those, too, should work just fine but I'm not sure as mine just has the two!

Thanks mate thats a great help, I've had a Razor mouse and it wont work at all on a mac so Iam gonna pick up a logitech when I get some cash.

Seems certain Razer mice don't support OSX. I found this thread and also another, hopefully one of the solutions (setting up mouse on pc, then plugging into a mac, or using that SteerMouse software) will work in the meantime and may save you buying a new mouse.

Hoping someone has had a similar problem - the superdrive on my imac has just eaten a CD! It's refusing to eject it, iTunes doesn't 'see' it, so it looks as if the imac doesn't know it's in the drive...but it is....

Has this happened to anyone else - and is there any kind of 'force eject' which I'm missing?

                        Thanks
                        Tony

                          Try this out:

If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

                            A few Eject options here.

Apologies if something along these lines has been mentioned previously on here.

My mate has just picked up his first PC and has no idea what the hell he's doing and I'm wondering if there's a way that I could access his PC from my Mac remotely?

It's not something I've ever done myself but if we have any tech issues in work we give our IT staff remote access from which ever country it is they're based in.

He's got a brand new lap top but doesn't know anything about the hardware or OS but I'm guessing that as he wouldn't have gone for a really expensive one that he's going to be using XP.

Something fairly simple & free would be ideal, thanks.
