JPN 360 problem

Just received a used JPN 360 and have a Slight problem.

Hooked it up and it loaded fine so I turned it off and hooked up the HDD from my PAL 360. A pop up about a security update came up and I ignored it at first.

After it came up again I let it run (it either loaded off an inserted game disc or the hdd as it wasn't hooked up to the net), it reboots and won't play any JPN games but will play PAL and region free.

I'm guessing I've completely borked it up.

Anyone hear of this before?

I hadn't run any JPN games before updating but I have absolutely no reason to suspect it was a percy to begin with.

At worst I have a spare PAL now or I could apply the mod that will change the region.

I think they always ask for a security update when u first switch hard drives. Did for me anyway. You sure it's def a jpn model? I imagine if it was that easy to switch regions more people would be doing it on purpose.
Check in video options to see if you have the jpn video modes and there is no PAL50/60 option.

I was running in vga and I've just tried component and it makes no difference.

It's coming up with the disc not compatible with this region blade, not the 50Hz one you get with original xbox games.

I remember there was a way of telling if a 360 was manufactured/put together in Hungary or china from either the serial number or product ID. I've been googling/searching on here and can't find anything. Anyone happen to remember?

Was it a premium model, or do you not have a JPN HDD to test it with?

Premium, came bare with only a UK power supply and games.

I load my original pal hard drive into a pal ,us and jap machines daily and never had this problem.Sometimes when i been online with one console then switch the hdd to another it sometimes does the security check but never changes the region of the console.The only answer is it can not be a jap console,where the games supplied with it jap?

Odd, sounds like a glitch to me.

Are the Jpn Games you have region locked?

Is there a mod to change the region?

I'm pretty sure there is a way of modding the region of a 360, not sure if it opens up boots though.

All the games are NTSC-J and none of them run on either my PAL or the JPN unit (apart from the bonus disc from NFS underground but that is just a standard dvd).

I'm putting it down to me ****ing it up but there is a slim chance it's a percy. I'll find out on Friday.

If you could change a 360s region by whacking on a HDD from another region, we'd all be doing it. Sounds like a PAL 360 to me.

Pretty sure that even if you flash the drive it still doesnt open it up to other regions.

Think you can only play boots & get banned from Live with a flashed drive.

One thing i will say Bort is that is going to red ring at some point, looks to me the cage is not in line with the casing. Look at the second picture, the fans airflow is blocked at the top half.

Get the face plate off, is the MS silver sticker intact?
