I used to have trouble with Zangief's 360 because I'd get scared that he'd jump by the time I hit the up-diagonal.
Just walk forward then roll the joystick down, back and up and press punch. Even on the old SF games with the tighter timing he won't jump, I promise. Since realising that, I can always do it. 720's too tricky for me, I can only do it when waking up or jumping in.
I remember I was playing a 6-player match on HD Remix with some randoms and I was running the place so I told them that if they saw me jumping in without hitting, I was most likely trying a 720. Lost almost every match after that
Apparently the 720 can actually be pulled off by doing...*maths*...540 degrees but, like negative edge, it requires too much thought on my part in the heat of a match so I just do one full rotation followed by the movement for his 360 and it works just fine.
I'm sure doing 540 is good for those who need the extra frames, but I file it under 'stuff I won't need yet', alongside charging back, forward, back+P for Sonic Booms, etc.
