I got one of these one's:

Are either of the 2 stereo sockets for input, or are they both bizarrely outputs? Because you see I bought some phono leads yesterday and want to connect the splitter to my speakers using them, but I also want to be able to plug my PC sound into the splitter as well.

    Possible?

They are both outputs - TV out and AV out

It's very useful as you can connect everything to your amp via 1 pair of phonos.

        Bah, thanks man.

Guess I'll just have to physically swap my speakers between PC and splitter. It's a preferable choice to b0rking my TV though.

Right then, I'm using bog-standard SCART cables and on a couple of machines (Q for instance) have composite. My TV is getting older but does refresh at 100Hz and accept RGB. Will I get a better picture (and I mean noticable to the untrained eye) by purchasing SCARTs that cost money as opposed to blagged cheapies?

Those phonos can't be output! I connected them up to my amp and turned the Gamecube on (with the TV off) and didn't hear a peep!

Thanks to Siri iv found this thread. My dilemma is i want to plug in 2 xboxes an N64 and an import cube. Which will display a picture for all of them best?

In the first post there are a few to choose one so which would suit the above setup best?

The Argos one is probably the best option (value for money anyway)

I have the Joytech ?40 one. And, whilst it gives a fantastic signal quality, I have some real problems with it:

I can't use my PAL Cube official RGB lead or DC RGB lead with it and output sound via stereo RCA to my amp The Joytech has output for audio but it can't be used if the scart output is being used

If you want to use composite or S Video from a unit, you have to use the same signal from the Joytech box to TV, so for example it would be

                N64 composite>Joytech box>composite to composite lead>TV

It won't convert signals or even let you pass a composite signal through the scart connection or SVideo output. It's simply
                RGB in>RGB out,
                S-Video in>S-Video out,
                Composite in>Composite out,
                optical digital in>optical digital out.

Apart from that it's very good. The build quality is great, and like I said the signal quality is so good... it's like I'm not even using a switchbox.

You could always do what I do and use the Joytech one as your main box. Then have an Argos splitter for any consoles that require analogue audio out

Those only carry a composite picture though. I was originally looking for something like that (scart>scart with stereo RCA output on one end) but the only ones I could find were regular composite; none were wired to carry an RGB signal

I'm pretty sure these are fully wired because the cable looks thick - normally a good sign.
Worth a phone call though isn't it?

I honestly dont have any idea what i need and what the Xbox / GameCube inputs and outputs so could somebody just point me in the right direction for something that will enable me to use all my consoles at the same time (listed above) and output the right picture etc?

Heh. This thread was linked in the FAQ thread in the stickies, so if you ever need to find it again, you know where to look.

I have two of the good (or should that be better) Argos 3 bank splitters, without the built in Scart lead, and in to them i have 2 X-Box's,Modded GC with modded lead,US DC and VCR.
The GC picture is perfect, due to the lead more than the splitter i imagine, the X-Box's have diagonal lines running through them and the DC picture occasionally comes through with a colour cast, usually blue, which i have to correct by wiggling the DC Scart lead in the splitter.
I have all the RGB buttons pressed down, the a-b,b-c buttons are not and even worse is my DVD player, which is in AV2 at the back of the TV, has dropped in picture quality, and if i select AV2 but have the DVD turned off,i can hear BBC2 coming through it!
I think with these Argos ones it seems pot luck,as so many people on here have great results.
I think my next step is to get an amplified unit for the X-Box's and then use the Argos ones behind that for the GC and DC etc...

So you've only got you DVD player in AV1 and the rest in AV2?

In that case you're most likely not getting RGB at all from anything plugged in to AV2 because AV1 will be the only RGB wired scart socket on your TV.

Sorry, the splitter is in AV1,and the DVD in AV2. Got them the wrong way round.(Edited main post).
Looked down at the back of the TV and the DVD was at the top with the splitter scart below,so i presumed they were AV1 and then AV2 below it.
