I am stupid please explain this to me?

I have a Pal PS2 i think , and I have been interested in buying US games since seeing how cheap they are.

Few questions I have for you all.

On my Pal PS2 what is S400?

I have a Beko TV and a Scart and a RF/Ariel Connecter, can i play a NTSC PS2 on it?

Where can i get a stepdown transformer in N.Ireland or on the web?

Check if your TV supports RGB through the scart plug. Makes life easier.

I have LOW1 and I played it on 60hz for 10 mins it didn't flick only when i did the test but I think this wasn't unstable.

      It played in colour.

So does my TV support 60hz it also has a scart socket in back.

You need to get your PAL PS2 chipped if you want to play US games. www.londonconsoles.com

Sure you can - but in your first post you said you had a PAL PS2 already ... with the modification, you wouldn't have to get another one, see...

Everyone here will recommend you get your PS2 chipped to play imports. It's safe if you get the right people to do it. Please stop asking stupid questions and do some research. Bit harsh but at the moment you are sounding like a joke poster.... sorry.

                    I'm being serious.

Why would I be joking, I've got my uncle who is a leccy to find out more about the converter and ****.

Does the TV plug into to it?

No. A step down converter reduces the voltage to that used in Japan/US, and as your TV runs on UK's 240V system, it wouldn't work.

Tbh - I think you might be better off sticking with PAL gaming.

I plug my PS2 into the RGB SCART socket on the tv, plug them both into the mains if I'm using my PAL PS2. If I'm using my JAP PS2 I'll plug that into the step down transformer instead (and the plug on that goes to the mains).

Then I turn them both on, the TV automatically switches to the AV channels but requires me to switch it to RGB mode. I press eject on the PS2, take a game from one of my shelves, take the disc out of the case, place this in the tray (label side facing up), and press the eject or reset button to insert the game into the PS2. If I've done all this correctly, I can normally start playing the game.

I also need to turn on my AV receiver, but I won't confuse matters further with that.

                              Regards
                              Marty
