    I have a scart and I think it's a RGB.

I have a rf connecter and a scart.

    Does that help?

what you need to play PS2 US NTSC games:

      1) Either:
      a chipped PS2
      or
      a US NTSC PS2

      2) If you've decided on a US NTSC PS2, a step down transformer that changes UK mains to US mains. This you'll plug your NTSC PS2 into using the leads provided in the box. Stepdown then plugs in to the mains.

Do not under any circumstances use a UK PS2 power lead on a US PS2.

      3) A TV that either has RGB or NTSC 3.58 support.

If you end up using RGB, you'll need an RGB SCART lead between your PS2 and TV.

If the TV supports NTSC 3.58, you can use an S-Video, RF or composite connection, by plugging in the appropriate lead between your TV and PS2.

      4) US NTSC games.

      Marty

That particular company ships internationally, so yes, if you bought a PS2 from them, you'd be able to play US games; assuming your TV has support for RGB or NTSC 3.58, and you had a step down transformer.

          Regards

Just because you might still have this little worry, I'll dispel it for you. What kills PS2s is making the laser work extra-hard by running CD-R and DVD-R discs in it trying to play pirate games. Since this is regrettably the reason that many people have their machines chipped, they assume its the chip that breaks it, not the pirate playing. Stick to legit releases and you should be fine, unless the chipping is a complete botch job (and thats certainly not a worry if you go with Will as linked before).

              Look on www.beko.co.uk
              Find your TV
If it says RGB through scart, you are ok.
Get your PS2 chipped. But an rgb cable. Buy US games

Then I turn them both on, the TV automatically switches to the AV channels but requires me to switch it to RGB mode. I press eject on the PS2, take a game from one of my shelves, take the disc out of the case, place this in the tray (label side facing up), and press the eject or reset button to insert the game into the PS2. If I've done all this correctly, I can normally start playing the game.

I also need to turn on my AV receiver, but I won't confuse matters further with that.

You have clearly chosen the wrong vocation Marty, such is the subtle nature of your humour perhaps you could try ITV sitcoms

I've got my uncle the electrian to do a little digging about to see if my TV is compatible for NSTC, what I'll need, I've sent him sites of where I'll be making my purchases I'f i'm sucessful.

I've also found some sites(uk) that sell Step Down Transformers at a decent price instead of ?100+.

A question would you waste money on a Jap version at ?170 when you can buy an american version at ?106.

                      I don't think you've been listening.
Why waste your money on either of them when you can chip your PAL one for ?50? If you get a Jap console, you can only play Jap games. If you get a US console you can only play US games. If you want to play all regions, you need a chipped PS2 and it doesn't matter where it comes from, so UK PS2 is all you need. You have one already.
