If there's a screw in the expansion bay, like the picture in the guide shows you, you've got a V5, or a model younger than that (V6, 7, whatever).

If you get your PS2 chipped -- which is what you SHOULD do -- you'll be able to play games from the US and Japan. If you get a US PS2, you'll only be able to play games from the US.

It'll also cost a ****load more to buy a US PS2 than to get your PS2 chipped.

So get your UK PS2 chipped by the guy from londonconsole.com. He knows his **** well, and he's fast and reliable.

      POWER STUFF

Our electrical voltage is 220v. Japan's and US's is 110v. This means that if you get a US PS2 -- which is set to 110v -- and just plug the UK power lead into it, it will blow up. Yes, that's right. It will blow up. Okay?

What A Stepdown Converter Does: Plugs into the plug socket on the wall. Then you plug the US plug into the stepdown. It brings the voltage down from 220v to 110v, so your US PS2 (or Gamecube or Xbox or whatever) won't explode when you turn it on.

Getting your UK PS2 chipped avoids all this ****, and avoids you having to shell out extra cash for a stepdown converter.

      Now, your TV.

Your uncle doesn't need to look at it. Go here. Click on 'televisions' at the top. Find yours. Click on the television itself - not "product information".

If the SCART is RGB, it'll say (Compatable for RGB) in the list next to it. If it isn't, it won't say that.

So there. That's all you need to do.

That sounds very similar to this one, in which case, your TV is NTSC compatable and will work with US and Japanese games.

Just don't do piracy, okay? That will **** your PS2 up, not the chip.
