I don't use wireless 360 pads anymore for that reason. The only marks against the Hori pad are the slightly unergonomic grips and the height of the sticks. The d-pad is the best alternative to the official 360 pad that I've tried outside of a PS2 Saturn pad and an XTokki converter though.

I really don't rate Saturn pads that much, despite all the praise. Too much travel on the dpad for shmups, and most in general which is why I recommended the microswitches of the PDP pad.

You've got me wondering about the NEO GEO Pad 2 via the XTokki adapter now.

          That would work!

Just tried it with RFA. Took a bit of getting used to but quite good overall. Tapping to avoid spreads of fire was a tad imprecise compared to a stick sometimes but I prefer the tightest stick possible so that's to be expected. So, there's another option!

Solved!!! Just use the DC stick on the Xbox360

              ahem cough.

Crazed as it is, I really liked that idea until he revealed that the stick on the DC pad didn't work. It would've been good to use that pad for Sonic Adventure and Shenmue HD when it arrives.

I tried DDP: DOJ with the NEO GEO Pad 2 this afternoon and it was horrendous compared to RFA, sadly. Went straight back to the stick.

So, Charles, did you end up getting one of those Versus Fighting Pads by PDP? If so, I'd love to hear your impressions of it. That bizarre microswitched thumbstick could be excellent for playing shmups on the Xbox 360. For some reason, I think it could be even better suited for them than for fighting games.

Funnily enough, all I use for shmups on 360 is a bog standard 360 pad.

The wireless black ones have a vastly improved and very usable D-Pad on them that works perfectly.

The D-pads on both of mine are completely shot. They seem to not last long. I did indeed order the PDP. It's on the way from the USofA. Anyone know if it will work on the PC too?

It should be recognised as a standard 360 controller. I'm assuming that the stick is treated like the D-pad since it's microswitched.

It will indeed, I use my arcade stick (with the PCB from the pad) on my PC all the time.

The "dpad" is recognized as a POV stick though - so you may need to use JoyToKey for some software.

Is there an option to switch between L/R analogue stick/D-pad modes for the stick on that pad, like there is on the MadCatz fight pad?

                                I'm afraid not.
