Take a look at the Sony MDR 1RNC, Kit. I picked up the Bluetooth version recently (no noise cancelling) but they are very comfortable and light on the head. HMV should have them in stock for around ?249 (ignore the price Sony themselves want for them).

Those sonys look great, although it made me laugh that a major selling point is ability to "reform" compressed mp3s so they sound better. People spending ?450 on a pair of headphones and use them for compressed mp3s need to up their game to lossless....

Of course not. I use some JVC jellies on the street. Or some Philips Shibuya headphones I bought. I always break stuff on the go so I don't spend much..

Sony sent out an email earlier with an up to 50% voucher for a bunch of their headphones. My nieces recently rippled my iphone cable for my headphones and I'm stuck with the droid wire which isn't very responsive and does random stuff on its own...

Here's what I ended up getting gents:

                  - Creative HS800 Fatal1ty Headset for when I finally return to pc gaming. Not tried them yet but they look great!

                  - Sony MDR - EX50LP Noise Cancelling headphones. Tried these and I'm beyond impressed!

Tried the Fatal1ty headset. Not as loud as I'd hoped but that could be the dvd? - even though I did have the volume at max. The bass is lovely though. Going to test them out in a few games next week.

I'm looking for a set of headphones for use at home - will be used almost exclusively in my iMac, so not worried too much about being portable (I have a set of Jays earbuds for that), but more interested in comfort (and sound quality) for longer listening sessions - been looking at the B&W P5 & P3, but also the Phillips Fidelio M1, but these seem to be aimed at portable use ?

I wear glasses so looking for a pair of headphones that won't squeeze my head too much.

Budget wise, somewhere up to ?250 I would think. Also, is there any benefit to using a headphone amp with an iMac ?

Any suggestions, and also anywhere that I can try before I buy to make sure they are comfortable..

I have the p3s. excellent. tried them with an arcam dac and it was a noticeable improvement over the built in mac book air dac. very comfortable too though not as comfy as my hd595s

edit: when wearing glasses as work I move the arms of the glasses to above my ears. If I didn't do that then it would not be very comfortable.

Do you want them to be open or closed, in that they isolate sound well or not?

Open headphones sound more natural to my ears generally so I would recommend those.

Cheers, good to get a recommendation on the p3's - I think they have them in my local Apple store so can probably try them there.

Cheers, was thinking closed as they leak less ? My iMac is in my main living space which is pretty much open plan, so wouldn't want to disturb my wife with my music while she was reading, sketching etc...
