endo - the PS2 port of Ibara is attrocious. Probably the worst Cave port of all time. If you're basing your assessment of the game on that crappy port, no wonder you don't like the game.

There's no way on earth they will nail the slowdown as accurately as MAME, which means MAME will always have the better version. I'll put money on there not even being a scanlines option in the XBLA release.

As for region-free retail releases, if the US sales figures for DeathSmiles are to be beleived, you can pretty much say goodbye to that idea for the rest of this gen.

MAME supports 6 Cave games. Anyway, that isn't the point. The point is that all those games are readily available already, either through MAME or other home formats. Fair enough if people don't like Pink Sweets (most people here haven't even played it, so I'm not sure how they come to that conclusion) but MMP is highly regarded, and not porting that before releasing a game that most people have been playing on MAME for years is dumb. I wouldn't be surprised if we only ever see one Cave game ever released on XBLA. Cave have said they only have one more port planned (which will almost certainly be Daifukkatsu).

I can safely say I feel the exact same about the PS2 version of Ibara as I do the PCB. Also I have played Pink Sweets thanks, I simply don't get on with the game.

          I don't get the Ibara hate. D:

I'm not a big fan of ranking (yet). Same reason why Pink Sweets is another I don't get on with.

I only mentioned MAME because I got the distinct vibe from CMcK that he was implying that I play Cave roms in MAME and therefore don't care about ports or something (sorry if that's not what's meant, but that's how it came across).
Then in your post you mentioned people who voted for games in MAME over Pink Sweets were morons, even though only 2 on that list are playable in MAME (though, as you rightly say, other ports are available of most of those).

Whatever the case, I reckon it's fair to say people who voted are more than likely to have either played Pink Sweets, or at least have played Ibara and know what Pink Sweets is about. We're not exactly talking about games that appeal to the mainstream here so I can't see Joe Public voting, or even giving a toss full-stop, about potential Cave ports.

As for Ibara, I don't dig the PCB either, and having played Pink Sweets I don't automatically get the Cave insta-stiffy for a port, though I know lots of people do (because, OMG!!!!, it's Cave and t3h hardcore!!!!1!). I get the impression you like it and you're disappointed it might not get ported. I don't think that necessarily means people who don't like it are morons.

And as for this bit "most people here haven't even played it, so I'm not sure how they come to that conclusion", I think only Fuse and I have said we're not fans and we've both played it. Meh.

I'd love to see an MMP port though, so yeah, it's a bit disappointing it's not on the list- who knows why? Who cares? If I got so arsed to play it again, I'd consider hunting down a PCB. Whatever, they're just games anyway, nowt to get worked up over.

I really enjoyed Pink Sweets when they used to have it in Casino, would love to see it ported.

yeah, the game modes that were in the arcade have a choice between 360 (new graphics) and arcade (old graphics) in the port, the game modes just on the port only have the new graphics iirc, its the same for espgaluda 2.

I really like Pink Sweets too. The charge shot/shild set-up is genius.

Never had the pleasure of Pink Sweets & only played the port of Ibara (which I hated) but I would like the chance.

Personally I would prefer to see a port of Muchi Muchi...loved the short time I had with it at IC'09 but I'll be happy with whatever Cave decide to release.

I'm hopefully going to be buying my parents house off them later this year which means I will finally have the space for a cab & then I'll get the chance to try Ibara properly & see if I like it any better as it really isn't that dear for a Cave PCB & will deffinitley pick up an Espra.de, then maybe if I ever have the cash get myself a Pink Sweets & Muchi Muchi at some point...everything else will be played using the 360 ports I think

Fingers crossed for more to come though...not pleased with the rumours of only one more port.

Only one more disc release from the back catalogue.

Excuse my stupidity but I'm assuming that means that we probably wont see Muchi Muchi then as I guess that's classed as back catalogue as well??

Yep, it's likely to be Daifukkatsu.

Oh well I'll be happy with whatever we get but I'd still love to see some Pork on the 360

Do you know of any newer stuff in the pipeline yet or is DS 2 the newest title we can expect for a while?

Sorry, I got that slightly wrong, it's two more ports after Guwange. No mention of what formats though. It wasn't a rumour, it's a fact. The info comes from Cave's Japanese blog. Daifukkatsu for the 360 is a definite I'd say. Futari has practically also been confirmed for the iPhone too, so unless they meant two more ports for the 360, that's your lot. The same blog post says they want to concentrate on original content for the 360 (XBLA and retail).

Of course, there's nothing stopping the likes of 5pb or M2 doing further ports of older titles... Personally, I'd rather 5pb did the ports - their Ketsui port is better than any of Cave's ports.

Also, all might not be lost for Pink Sweets - earlier this year Cave did a Japanese survey concerning XBLA and Pink Sweets ranked higher than MMP. It ranked #5, MMP, was #7 or #8. This latest survey was about what people wanted to see on the iPhone, not retail or XBLA.
