+7 can be made up by merits ^^, plus there's really not that much different in MB i've seen over the years, 7+m for 10/20 damage more on spell already doing crap loads of damage isn't worth it.

Heh I feel I'm the only person who played any FFXI last night, my achievements were pretty non-existant just getting my NPC some more xp and failing to get a moongate pass. Right now I'm still sat behind one fo the gates in Ro'Meave having done 3 circuits now looking for the item. If its not up when Iget home later I'll have to warp out and try again another time.

The prices are madness. The Spider Torque (which is the cheaper of the two Enfeebling + pieces in the 60's) is over 3M at the moment. I'm just glad it drops from a NM even if i've had no luck on it yet...
Its also a good time to be a mage with Sneak/Invis due to the crazy prices of Oil and Powder.

I'd love to know where you are all getting these millions of gil from.. I'm still scraping around in the tens of thousands, even the big selling items I've had went for little over 100K... every time I have to buy a stack of oil or powder I'm broke again.
I understand that some of you are dedicated farmers but I know from past comments that Daragon isn't - so what on earth is the secret?

I'm not what I'd call a dedicated farmer, but sales of my sleepshroom over the past few weeks have been very strong @ 20k a stack which is very high for the work and time involved.
My big gil break came from a LS ENM run which saw the item needed for a 7m gil earring drop - an 800k share in that quickly made me a happy guy ^_^

Most of my recent cash has come enm?s and farming for 2 months back from November to December before I got sick of it, I don?t exp as much now I?ve hit 75 and thus have saved a surprising amount on money by not actually spending it in consumables(food, oils, powders, again getting exp from ENM is much cheaper than normal lvling), and low level exping is still quite cheap and you now make a lot of money of bottom tier crafting items.
Still it?s not enough to get what I wanted(a Hagun) by the time I reached 4m, the price shot up to 5m then in 4days to 10m. All other equipment I want is rare/ex or doesn?t warrant farming months for to add +2 str to already high enough STR base.

NPC leveling is getting me decent gil lately. Obviously not as much as a dedicated farming session would over the same amount of time but I?m finding myself unable to motivate myself to farm lately yet my gil is going up.
You just need to know where to go with your NPC. My latest haunt has been Quicksand Caves. I found an area with Anticans and Spiders. Spider Web drops are obviously nice (but rare) but drops of Antican Pauldrons are plenty and each one is worth 10k at the moment. I can often walk out of NPC levelling sessions 30-50k better off (and more if I use the Tactics Pearl which allows the NPC session to last longer). Plus you also get Beastman and Kindred Seals which hopefully I can cash in at some point. Talking last night, I found I had an incredibly high amount of KS in relation to ?the norm?.
I even got incredibly lucky just before Christmas when I claimed the Shaman?s Cloak NM. I was more interested in the cloak (to add to my Rare/EX collection) which I got but also got a scroll of Stonega2. I thought it was junk as was about ready to ditch it to an NPC but just happened to check the AH and realised it was worth 400k.
Without wanting to give too much away, once you?ve gone some way into the NPC quest series, you get the opportunity to level them in a certain zone once a week for bonus EXP. There are drops here which are also worth worth 35k each, again which can be picked up on an NPC session.
On another note, I just got my 360 Beta disc. Did you say you started in Bastok Tal?

Tobal has highlighted the real problem with the economy at the moment. Rising prices on their own are not too much of a problem. They are natural in any economy, it?s the sheer rapid pace with which they are occurring that people take issue with, as it simply prevents people from saving up for what they want as their rate of income is fair exceeded by the rate of inflation.
In the ?old? economy at least things were steady and prices would hold for a significant length of time, so much so that unless you get lucky and your saving was intersected by a significant economy change, the price of the item when you buy will not be too far off from what it was when you started saving. Nowadays price jumps of multi-millions on some of the more infamous items in the same day are not uncommon. I had to laugh at the stupidity of it all when I looked at the price of Byrnie (not a particularly great piece of armour when compared to Haubergeon really for many of the jobs that can equip both) to find that 1 sale on Monday was 10m then the next sale on the same day was 20m.

On the money front, don't forget the BCNM20 run tomorrow - it should help out a little! I'll stick a LSMES up tonight to remind people. Will probably say Gather Together Bastok @ 8.30pm GMT and don't forget your Orb^^
D, hows that NIN leveling going dude?

My approach to gil has always been a mix, the BCNM 20's are bringing home some serious dough. I'm about to make my first serious foray into gardening for elemental ores and on top I seem to generally be able to craft or farm up additional gil on demand.
Not sure i have a secret but I am able to duck some of the sillier prices by simply crafting things myself. As for big drops they rarely come my way but every now and again I get a nice suprise. Think the key may have to be thief to 50...Last edited by Tsingtao; 11-01-2006, 15:03.

Worst one was with a bad case of crawler poisoning, ticking down from 46hp after the fight, it got down to the single figures and I decided I'd better engage a rabbit so I could use mijin gakure, but i kept my distance... got down to 4hp and the poison wore off just as I took a step too far and attacked the rabbit ><
So 4 levels to get tonight, might be a tall order since I also have to watch the finale of Lost. But I'll try!

Last 4 levels aren't to bad, remember the key bits and bobs and 2 hours will see you home. 1 empress band, 1 stack of meat mithkabobs, and go to Ghelsba and farm yourself about 4 stacks of fire crystals while you at it. I saved my emp band for halway through 8 as I hate level 8 and 9. The other biggie is selbina milk costs sod all regens 30 hp I think, stick it on and you barely have to rest.
My level 1 - 6 tactics have always been sub BLM eat pies and nuke everything to oblivion with stone. Works real fast, BST sub works as well for charming and throwing mobs about.

My tuppence worth (as an intruder from Garuda) is that for levelling Ninja to 10, sub either Warrior or Monk go to Vomp Hill just outside Bastock Markets and run round and round (and round) killing everything. Use a ranged attack too if you've got one - no boomerang at that level so bow and arrow.
Mind you soloing near Windurst on Yagudo might not be a bad idea either as you'll get a few necklaces to go towards your tenshodo fame.
