    I?m sure SAMs are going to love it (obviously) and if it creates an environment whereby people (i.e. WAR) sub something other than /nin then I?m all for that (the trend of everyone subbing NIN is stupid).

    But I foresee that this is basically going to lead to ?everyone? (i.e. WAR) subs /sam instead and how is that any better than what we have now?

    Seriously, what were they thinking? An ability that improves STR, accuracy and attack speed on a 1 minute recast timer with no penalty is madness in terms of balanced game design.

      Im not sure where Sam's rate overall at the moment but do you think they needed improvements made in the first place.

      As for DD's and experience I would rate Sams quite high on the DD list, if you ask me Drk is the job that needs this ability, Drk's are (no disrespect to anyone who is Drk) without doubt the weakest DD job in the game, with slow attack speeds and poor accuracy Drk's at the best of times can do 75% of what other DD jobs can, the rest of the time they do about half the damage.

      I really like Drk's and if any job needed something of a boost in performance I would say it was Drk and not Sam, Sam's already can do insane damage.

        Perhaps SE think there are far too many people NOT choosing the SAM job? I've only ever partied with two or three at the most in my levelling so far, they are a pretty rare breed.

        I wanted to be SAM after everyone on Hydra made NIN seem 'chavvy'. Ended up with PLD as it was the only advanced job quest I could solo.

        Perhaps when I get Fallows up to lvl.30 youse lot can help me unlock SAM after I get PLD?

        I've taken on tons here... Here're my targets for perhaps the duration of this game's remaining life....

        Tarutaru: WHM75/BLM75/DRK75/SMN75/THF37/WAR37/NIN37
        Hume: WAR75/PLD75/SAM75/THF37/NIN37

        I wish I was a student for 3years, I'd bag that easily. I wonder if I can reach those targets before the dreaded 'switch-off'?

          I aggree with wedge, we need to be really pimped to keep up with other DD's.

          They better come up trumps with us as well. Infact ....

          We get souleater which eat hour HP, with crappy recast....

          We get Last Resort, crappy recast and lasts 30 seconds and we take a defence hit.

          Its like giving SAM's free Sushi.

              One thing i didnt mention now i have calmed down and thought about it. /thf has always been prefered for Drk over /sam. As /sam normally means /death.

              Also as we got Absorb-TP in the last update /sam became even more rare.

              But now looks like /sam could be a better option for Drks in TP spam and DD as well as they have the DEF option too.

                Spot on Wedge. I can?t ever recall anyone claiming that SAM were sub-par in their DD role. Unlike DRG they have a much better gear selection to boost their DD potential and are not reliant on an easily killed pet to beef up their numbers.

                I feel sorry for the poor RNG. They got massively shafted just over a year ago and everyone felt that instead of impacting upon their potential other jobs should be boosted instead. Personally I am of the opinion that RNG SHOULD be more powerful than other DD jobs. They literally pay for the damage they do. Now we have situation where they have been reduced in effectiveness and may find themselves lacking as other jobs get pretty substantial boosts.

                Can?t say this is a major thing I?ve noticed. I wouldn?t say SAM are any more rare than other DD jobs (except WAR which is the current fad job). If that truly is their reasoning I think they need to look a lot more closely at their job takeup statistics. I?d wager DRG and PUP are far more deserving of updates in this regard.

                    I can say even with very good gear for sam im out damaged by war's in everything, Drks and Drg hit for 20-30(sometimes 40) per hit more(and usually faster), we have average DMG:77/80 450 delay weapons(higher damage have bad aditional effects), the only way i can keep up if we're going all out TP/ACC and outdamage but the shear amount of WS doing an average of 500-900 on T/VT mobs with war sub, which of course hurts our DoT in normal damage (hitting VT none demon mobs for 80/120 with Sis kabob, while drgs and drk hit got 150+ and wars and nins just never stop hitting with the right combo of weapons and haste equipment, which is where the imblance between Duel vs 2 handed is.

                      Be intereste to see what enhanced dual weild brings with 2 handed weapons with the suppanomimi. Only shame is we can't get WAR double attack and dual wield all at once, quite haoppy with our buffs mind. One day they'll give us voke then we'll be able to go nuts

                      Be interesting mind Would NINs then sub PLD for DEF if they were tanking or WAR for the damage.

                        NIN would never sub PLD over WAR as DEF is meaningless in the majority of situations.

                        Also, if you get a Suppanomimi it offers no attack speed bonus if you use a 2 handed weapon. It only offers a boost if you are equipping 2 one handed weapons.

                          I actually meant 2 1 handed weapons, enhances dual weild effect kind of gives away what it does.

                          As for never subbing PLD if it gave voke I'd be suprised, flash for blindness and hate, protect, shell, cures and obviously big Def bonus on sentinel trait would make a big diff in keep ing up shadow cycles solo against fast hitting mobs.

                              Firstly I have been asked to ask those in the process of joining AaD if you can go to Gods in Sky on Sunday 4.30 GMT.


                              Well im not sure what to do now, looks like I may be dropping out of the whole HNM Gods thing again.

                              I had the AaD LS leader complaining to me earlier, making ridiculous demands, such as I must spend at least 75% of my FFXI online time on AaD and not on Rargh, same goes for everyone apparently, they dont like you using social shells.

                              The same 10 people always turn up for Ullikummi and get us the god trigs while others are in thier social shells, well thats great for those who can set aside 8 hours every other day to do so, but no way can I, I turn up when I can and even then it may not be on the top of my priority list, they need to make trigger farming more appealing, maybe giving more points for triggers than actual gods.

                              So im debating how much I really want to do Gods, because it seems like its the main thing to do at end game, although I dont really care about god drops too much, it was more for the fun and challenge, but honestly it aint worth the time thats being demanded.

                              Plus right now leadership on AaD is dire, events going on without any prior notice, no event information on the forum, no upto date LSmessage, events keep getting cancelled over and over, mostly because no one knows what is supposed to be going on when.

                              So im not sure yet but AaD needs to make improvements or im out.
