Maat defeated on RNG. Was very close but finally got him down. As I expected forgetting Eagle Eye Shot on the last battle was the difference between win and lose.

I know a lot of RNG beat this by sleeping to 100-300 TP, taking an Icarus Wing and relying on lots of Sidewinder/Slugshot. I wasn't happy with that and wanted to try and beat it with as few meds/perks to myself as possible.

I geared pretty standardly as though I was EXPing with a couple of exceptions. Firstly, I equipped a Terra's Staff (which still allowed me to use Axe Grip) and Jelly Ring for a Damage Taken -25%. Secondly, I used Kabura Arrows full time which offered a few extra points of DMG.

I enter and use a Tavnazian Taco and Persikos au Lait and run up the ramp. Pop up Velocity Shot and Sharpshot and ready Barrage. Fire off the arrows and he takes 610 damage. Good start! He responds immediately with his Eagle Eye Shot which hits for a pathetic 83 damage. I have the advantage but I need to wind it up quick as his HP advantage means he'll win in a battle of endurance.

I vow not to forget Eagle Eye Shot this time and use my own. BAM! Another 507 damage and he's down to around 50% HP. However he's used a few attacks of his own now taking me down by about 350HP. I have 99TP so fire one more arrow and proceed to Shadowbind him and move into position for Sidewinder. I use Unlimited Shot, pull out the P.P. Arrow and fire. 561 damage. It's close. He's clearly nearly dead but I'm not too healthy myself with less than 350HP so I go back to Kabura Arrows and fire another...

Hm. That was a mighty fine display of skill there, Rarehero. You've come a long way...

Geezer finally folds and I breathe a sigh of relief. A quick glance of the HP bar shows how close it was.

Congratulations rare, but... I thought you only had to beat Maat on a single job to unlock them all? Did you do it just for the fun of it?

you do only have to beat him once but I always said I would battle him on every job I get to 70 to see if I can.

If you beat him with all 15 pre-ToAU jobs (which is probably beyond me at the rate I EXP) that is how you get Maat's Cap too so it's not a total waste.

I'm hopefully going to try and EXP to 72 over the weekend. Got a few pieces of gear waiting for me at 71 and 72. Once there I can work on WS points with the 2 trial weapons whilst I try and decide if I want to make the 1.5m for Cursed Finger Gauntlets-1. They were down to 700k a few months ago and gutted that I never pounced then.

Grats Rare, nice story indeed!! Yeah its nice to go back and give the old man a good going over. I did it a few weeks back on blm cause I randomly got the testi, it was no were near as interesting. Burst II > Sleep > Freeze II > WINZ. Kinda cheating thou using merit spells

I'd like to do Einherjar too. It won't be 75 I don't think by the time you start but my RNG is pretty good already if you're willing to take it along. If it helps my case any, my RNG (at level 70) parsed 7th highest on the Dynamis Lord at the weekend apprently so you know it's good

Dynacore is funny there's a huge spluit between the good and the just plain rubbish. I can single nuke and out nuke 90% of the BLM party for hate vs 2 - 3 of theirs my BLM isn't even close to complete but it does have mertis and decent gear unlike a lot of others on there. I'd bet my PLD/NIN could out DD about 50% of the DD, no way we'll ever find out but would be fun to try

Been so long since I've had a productive weekend so you'll have to humour me with this post.

1. Gone back to Smithing and got it up to level 33. Up to 30 was a nice (but risky) profitable synth and then I spent the last 3 and a bit levels doing some rusty fishing for cheap skill ups. Got until 34 on Rusty Caps then need to find something else. War Picks look affordable if I go about it cleverly.

2. RNG71 and now rocking a SCHWEEEET Archer's Jupon:


Need a few more pieces of equipment. Need to try and get Fenrir's Earring, Breeze Gorget and Pahluwan Dastansas sorted this week (I'll get none).

3. Obtained Nyzul Isle Runic Key.

4. Cleared Bastok 9-1. We had a great plan to make this as painless as possible but obviously, **** happens! Ended up being rather hectic and more my style of mission Should get rank 10 sorted soon when Rep is free to duo then I can look at changing to Windurst for the final batch of missions.

May be sooner then you think. Just hit level 90 on Alchemy, the path to 93 (Icarus Wings) doesn't look as bad as i orginally imagined. The Synth is x6 Giant Bird feathers, which is the main problem and x2 Beeswax (which i can **** HQ). However that aside there were 0 singles and 0 stacks when i started making them, so should hopefully be a nice ride.

Well after no luck in last week's Dynamis-San d'Oria, last night's Dynamis-Windurst coughed up 2 pairs of these:



The first of which dropped about 10 minutes in and went to myself as the only group 1 RNG lotter.

They're pretty poor really (one of the worst RNG relics along with the body) but getting them whilst my RNG is 71 means they will actually get a bit of use as a WS piece until I get hands with Ranged Attack+ at either 72 or 73.

Tobal, I have now opened up a few Maws, Rolanberry Fields, Battalia Downs, Jugner Forest and East Ronfure and joined the Sandy conquest.

Opening those Maws took ages as well as 3 deaths and 2 stacks of oils and powders.

One question though, the Sauramauge (sp) champagine maw can only be got to through Garlaige Citadel?

Yes, you need to go through Garlaige Citadel [S] to get th Cavernous Maw in Sauromugue Champaign.

However in the [S] version none of the banishing gates block your path and no monster on the route if you go the correct way.

Yup and once you've done it if you attune to the flower warps in the past you never need to get help to pass a banishing gate again!

Not done much myself been mad at work still, maneged to log Nyzul Isle 45, so now its time for 46F. Taking time but getting there, it's amazing how different group can be 15 levels logged in just under an hour yesterday. Last 2 groups have been 0 in 1 - 2 hours, frightening how many people can't play their jobs still.

Redid King Gold as well which proved it in spades, twice we should have won twice the WHM was so slow at casting the tank died. For some reason kept taking a knee while I was in refresh cycles, never seen anything like it. Both runs we cleared all the weapons both we wiped to king gold due to their slow ass healing.
