I see there's a debate on Mannequin parts going on, now I have my feet adn I know the legs drop in the garissons. What I really want though is to get my hands on the head, body and hands from the BCNM 30s...
I have 60 seals right now in total so it looks like a straight choice of gil versus parts.

Just went home at lunch and finally managed to purchase an Anemet Mantle+1 for 1 million gil. Price for the most part hovered between 1.1-1.3m but I noticed that occasionally one would sell for 1m (usually when a lot were placed up for sale). However in the last week I missed about 4 instances where one sold for that price but finally got it now so Apathye can have his back.
Probably one of the few +1 items that really are significantly better and worth the extra gil.
I am now at a stage where I feel truly happy with my equipment and can level until the mid-60s without significant upgrades. Sadly, my purse is a measly 230k (with 25k to sell) so maybe a couple of farming sessions needed to build a levelling fund.

/em is extremely envious
I'm in completely the opposite situation, the gear I had hoped to have for using through the 50's is unobtainable and as a result I am still using mostly level 40 (and below) equipment.
It's left me totally aimless and confused. Every time I think I've resolved the situation in my head, it only lasts a day or two and then I'm back to thinking how crap it will be to level a BLM that's totally gimped. Do I just try to get loads of gil and compensate for crappy equipment by buying some +1 rings or something? Or do I abandon the BLM completely... no idea.
So I'm just not touching that job at the moment, I don't know what to do with it.

As you know, I gear change between INT and MND gear for RDM and would feel happy being a BLM simply with the gear I own, none of which was hugely expensive. If I was partying with a BLM that only had my gear I would be more than happy, add to this some BLM specific stuff and i'm sure you can have a good solid set of gear without paying silly money etc.
* I did however just purchase a Wizard's Earring which gives Elemental Magic Skill +5 when subbing BLM. This was 90k which is MUCH less than the similar 'all jobs' earring which only gives Elemental Magic Skill +3Last edited by talizker; 10-08-2005, 14:04.

Maybe try leveling thief, I managed to solo to level 17 and picked my opponents with money in mind, go to south gustaberg exp off bee's saplings, you can do this moving onto other areas and make enough from drops and gather together a nice amount of beastmen seals, then do one your confident at with good drops.
Thats what I did and now some of those expensive scrolls and equipment are not so hard to afford.

From what I understand of Darwock?s situation, the gil isn?t so much a problem, it?s the fact that the items he wants (and I know how difficult it can be to settle for another item when you have something specific in mind) are not available to buy on the AH because they drop from BCNMs that people hardly ever attempt.
I can really relate to this as despite what I said earlier, there is one piece of equipment that eludes me and that is that bastard tonberry katana. I would sell my left boll.. erm, arm for that.

Gil is not particularly the problem, although I can only afford one scroll at the moment I know more gil will come in time - it's the unavailability of useful equipment that is the killer (moldavite earring, BCNM drops etc).
The only option I can currently see to improve my intelligence is to actually take a step backwards and go back to the seer's equipment. Seer's gloves +1 and seer's crown +1 would (I think) give me the +5 I would have gotten from the level 50 equivalents, but less defense obviously and I would also be taking a bigger hit on my MP (losing 33 mp overall).
First xp party nobhead to bring up the fact I'm using level 30 gear at level 50 would undoubtedly have me kicking the crap out of my PS2.
edit - lol at Rarehero's post.. insightful chap
