I'm just more than a little irritated now, because in the process of recovering my beta ContentID (and thus, character), it seems to have deleted it at some point in the mist of all the errors =/

Finally! Managed to register my beta character with much less POL errors than before, though I thought I was screwed earlier on today when it said my PlayOnline Registration was invalid but it seems to be working now.

/hurray

Just enjoyed watching the FMV for the first time ever (was kinda exciting to see those orcs in FMV quality after fighting them for so many hours during the beta) and its now installing with 51 mins remaining, then I guess it'll be another 2 hours of updates before I finally get on.

Need some n00b advice guys!

Finally got the game installed and running! My brother plays this game on the PC and I'll be primarily playing this with him.
Seems it auto-assigned a server for my beta character (from the looks of it). So to play with my brother, I need a World Pass, right?

I understand there are different types of World Pass?

Do I loose my character stats?

I'm no expert on World passes but I have read that if you use one to transfer to another server, you'll have to start a new character again.
Too bad you missed the world shifters during the Beta.

Bit of a bugger, no real point playing until my brother gets a world pass then.

Does the old trick on the PC one where you make a character and quickly delete after you find out what server you will be on, work on this version?

I've just read this on a Game newsletter:

The success story of the year has undoubtedly been the rise and rise of "massively multiplayer" online adventures, led of course by the unstoppable World of Warcraft. Now X360 owners can also get in on the act as Final Fantasy XI: Online is released on a European console for the first time!

"Unstoppable World of Warcraft" eh?

It seems to me that FFXI is prefered to WoW. But, I have to admit that that impression is gained from the comments I've heard FFXI players make about WoW, and I've not played it myself.

I'm pretty sure that some people prefer WoW to FFXI, and I definately see more copies of WoW on shop shelves than FFXI copies, but I've yet to meet anyone who does prefer WoW. It's also possible that some people play both, which I couldn't do.

What do the forum users think.

Its all down to the player, I know for sure that WoW has the larger user base, no doubt about it but it all comes down to what style you prefer.

I tried WoW a few times and nothing clicked for me and using a keyboard wound me up, although I now know you can use a third party bit of software to map the keys to a pad.

I ditched WoW, SWG, EQ2 and more because they just dont click with me, in fact FFXI is the only MMORPG that ever has.

I think its easy to feel overwhelmed early on by most MMORPGs as well, like your trying to take in so much at once but on FFXI its really not asking much of you to start with, but over time it builds up and you get the hang of the game.

I'm much the same way, I'm really not into MMORPG's at all, and the likes of EQ, WoW and DoaC never clicked with me whatsoever.

For some reason though, FFXI did. And RO, actually. Hoping PSU does, as I liked PSO.

Well, by early Friday afternoon I was all set up and ready to play. Larcen has been recovered, after a few initial scares when (after character selection) the game came up with POL-0001 errors - just reset and it all went fine.

Looks like I've been dumped on the Cerberus server though :-( On my trip back from Palborough Mines the area was like a ghost town! Monsters everywhere, even the special 'boss' Walking Sapling thing (which I dispatched and earned a nifty new earring). There wasn't even a queue for the Bubbly Bertie lighthouse spawn -faints-. This is certainly going to take some getting used too, until I get a migration opportunity to leap over to Seraph.

heheheh - Great post Bru. Chuckling here - about your experiences away from the Beta server. Welcome to the real world (^_^)

* I can't remember in the last 2.5 year any formal opportunity to migrate to existing servers (although I may be wrong). The only ones I remember are moving to new servers... If you really want in on Seraph it may be best to bite the bullet and start again now. I'm sure this is not ideal but our Linkshell makes this game what it is. I'm fairly sure without it I wouldn't be playing any more. Of course, there will be good Linkshell's on other servers but its hard to imagine any more friendly and helpful than RarghLS!.

Talizker is right, if any of you want to move to Seraph then create a new character and we'll get you a world pass. I'm prepared to give you some help to get back to where you are now on Seraph. Just bear in mind this game is long, 2 months is nothing I've been playing now for almost 2 years so think if you want to join the community you see that now is the time to do it.

As Talizker says the LS is a key reason I play.

I've just picked this up and a worldpass would be fantastic. Obviously, I'll be plowing through low level stuff with the other new arrivals, but I'd like to be on a server with a decent set of players for the long run. Ta.
