The SNES version is impressive because the game is running perfectly playably on a machine it really shouldn't have been able to get on.

And the window was all part of the charm
Yes Doom was processor intensive at the time .
Getting it to run on the 3.58MHz was an incredible achievement.
I'd say the Snes version was comparable to running Doom on a 386.

The OTT lighting effects, brilliant co-op play via link cable, atmospheric audio, and smooth play with the PS controller makes the Playstation version the winner for me. I played it after the PC version, and still had to admit the Playstation version was brilliant in every conceivable way. Playing it in co-op on two TVs linked up at night with a friend was one of the best co-op gaming experiences I ever had.

The N64 version was more of a side-story/sequel thing, cool in its own way but not DOOM.

PC version was a pure classic of course, but to me the Playstation version improved on it, at least as far as out-of-the-box experience goes. (i.e. not counting modding the hell out of it, pun intended)
