I'm not sure if this counts as retro or not, but I just got my Neo Geo Stick 2 today.

I don't have a working digital camera atm, so this will have to do:

Can't believe I've been playing retro games without one though, makes a big difference, and the games are much more enjoyable.

It's nice and solid, and is a microswitched. Also works with an Xbox MagicBox converter. (I heard some others don't work)

Sadly I haven't spent any real amount of time playing arcade games before, so it's my first proper time using a stick, but I booted up Gradius V and beat my highscore by 21,000 on my first go!

My only slight complaint is that I'm used to using a PS2 pad, and not using much travel when shooting rapidly. (in Metal Slug 3, for example) So sometimes I'm not lifting my finger up enough for it to register another shot.

I read that back in the Famicom days, Nintendo put a limit on the number of titles 3rd party developers could release. Setting up another 'company' called Namcot allowed Namco to get more games out there. Dunno how true that is, though...

Given Nintendo's grip on things back then, that sounds quite feasible, but they were still doing it with the early PlayStation games like Ridge Racer, Tekken etc.

Very true. That's why a load of Konami titles were released under the "Ultra Games" label to get around this as well.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

I don't even know if this should be considered retro as to me it's current generation but...

There you have it, Dreamcast number 4, as the previous 3 all broke. Still on my first PS2 though, the bloody things immortal.

60 nzd from Cash Converters(about 23 pounds), fella at the counter told me they had a pile of "Sega games" for it, to which I said "awesome", but sadly they were shovelware MegaCD titles, not quite Criss Cross make my video. but still crap. Can't get the staff.

Pretty dirty but I can clean it up, and ex rental with the name of the shop carved into it, and a one of those stickers than doesn't come off in one bit and leaves sticky marks, but works perfect.

People do say one day we'll live in a world without Dreamcasts, as the things keep breaking down, so I kept my previous DC as spare parts (keeps resetting in the middle of games).

In the midst of new life we are in death, my white japanese sega saturn has burnt out. Maybe being fed 110V instead of 100V all these years as finally got to it. I can see where's it's broke, a brown capacitor on the PSU (marked 104K) has brunt out. I'm thinking about sucking the solder off it and soldering in a new identical part, but I'm a bit scittish about screwing around with things that directly plug into the AC, as I have no idea what I'm doing really, software guy.

And Japanese Saturns are pretty rare in New Zealand. Might be September before I get a new one... Cause of death is me playing 2D Shooters on it all weekend.

Quite a few retro related items arrived with me this past week. They include:

Arc the Lad Collection (US) - PS1 still factory sealed. I'm yet to play.
Contra (PAL) - PS1 in poor condition. Much to my surprise it's made by Apaloosa of Echo the Dolphin fame. Sadly it's not up to much
Harvest Moon Back To Nature (US) - PS1 in immaculate condition. Lovely game
Metal Slug X (US) - PS1 in immaculate condition. I've owned a sliver of this for ages, so it's nice to finally have a proper copy. Still my favourite in the Metal Slug series
Samba de Amigo (US) - DC in immaculate condition. Cracking game
Sonic the Hedgehog (JPN) - MD in average condition. Bought it for it's boxart which is nice. I'm not a huge fan of the game.
Street Fighter II Turbo (US) - SNES - in excellent condition

Yesterday I got the Planet Ring Boxset, in rather darn good condition, for ?8 from High Wycombe Gamestation. Took ages, mostly because some nutter was actually buying their overpriced Steel Batallion set >_>

Now all I need is SEAMAN!

People tell me feeding your Japanese consoles 110V instead of 100V will fry them eventually, but I've been reading up about Saturns and they're very easy to switch from one Region to another, so I'm going to buy a PAL Saturn for about $9, rip it's guts out, and cram them in my Japanese Saturn case. Only this time it'll run on Kiwi electricity. Choice!

It's worse than that, my PS2 is launch UK, used round the clock, 100% perfect. My PSP also has zero dead pixels and is perfect too.
