Best to play the Playstation Toaplan disc or the arcade version surely? None of the ports I've played come close to the original.

I thought the PC Eng game was pretty much the Arcade game, but you're missing the point. The MD version wasn't that close in terms of graphics or sound , but it had a one hell of an brucie bonus instead and thats hands down the best AI I've ever seen ina shooter , kind of hard to put into words (one really does have to play it) , but its like all the Enemies in the Mega Drive version are in fact controlled by real human players , I tell you?ll never move a D-Pad as much as you will in this game, its like they know where you?re going to move before you do .

I have the Arcade on Mamme and the PC-Eng btw , they don't come close

You're giving the 'AI' way much more credit than it deserves. The MD, PCE and FC ports are all dire.

I think you're not giving enought credit to the PC Eng or Mega Drive ports if you're going to call them dire . To me the PC Eng was more or less the Arcade , and the MD version had the most amazing AI I seen in a shooter

Finally got a mint copy of Hyper Dual for the Saturn. It wasn't cheap at 9000 yen but at least better than what Yahoo auctions have it going for these days after paying all the fees etc. Also got a brand new Insector X on the Mega Drive.


Load of crap on the Saturn as well. Mostly pachinko or slot games.

the meagre beginnings of what i can see being a larger Saturn collection. i just bought the thing the play Sega Rally again but the temptation to buy other games was too much - pleased about getting Resident Evil and Tomb Raider though.

Watch out for those PAL cases... the old ones (cardboard cover) can damage your discs due to the manual inside bending the disc when closed. It's the reason I got rid of my UK Saturn back when I had one... new games would quite often turn up damaged because of the issue, and second hand game discs were nearly always cracked New style cases are fine though.

aye, they are **** - they mark too easily and in the case of the Sega Rally one, fall apart. but it's all about the game(s) to be honest (apart from Street Racer which is absolute bobbins) and as long as the discs work i'm happy.

thanks for the manuals tip though - some of them seem to be unnecessarily thick, i'll take them out

oh yeah, i had it for the PS1 many moons ago and it always gave me The Fear, more than any other game. i loved the CGI intro, with the marines and dropship.

i still haven't played my Saturn version yet. i'm too scared
