Metal Walker arrived today, brand new for ?1.55, along with Wacky Stackers which is apparently crap, but, you know, it's a puzzler so I had to have it...

After seeing importaku's picture of this game, I had to have a copy myself. And it arrived today, brand new.

Some recent additions courtesy of trades with fellow NTSC-Uk mebers.

Septentrion is one I hope to get myself eventually.

Just a couple of JP PS games for me at the moment (Wipeout 3 thanks to Yakumo):

That wipeout box looks lovely. Is it more of a cd shaped dvd style box rather than a standard jewel case? ie made of same stuff as dvd boxes?

It's a jewel case, similar style to the PAL cases albeit better quality (i.e. less flimsy).

Those are standard JPN PS1 cases. There are 4 types in all, but that is the most common.
                  Kept you waiting, huh?

:S Didn't know that at all. All my jpn ps1 games are standard cd cases or the old-style double ones for mgs:integral and policenauts. Would that Wipeout3 be similar to the Ridge Racer Type 4 box. That's the only non-standard box i have.

That Wipeout JP box is the same dimensions and design as the standard PAL ones, except the material for the rim on the front panal are in the same material as the black tray bit. It was also used in early PAL releases (as well as a slightly smaller version without the "Playstation" emboss on the box).

Oh I get it now. Thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like a much better case than the usual PAL ps1 cases. Wonder why they bothered changing them.

Yes, the black material was a bit stronger than the translucent plastic. But not much more impact resistant in practice really. They probably changed it because they had more parts. Some games were also released in paper boxes the same size as the regular PS boxes.

Also, the early PAL cases didn't allow for easy 2-disc arrangement (which is why early PAL multi-disc games or even some single disc games wanting to look big on the shop shelves came in those those thick double CD album sized cases).

Mine's in a grey (black to my eyes) case, just like Audio CDs of the mid-90s. I guess they're all meant to be that way.
