My US SNES is finally finished!!!

When I originally performed the modification, I accidentally snapped leg 30 off PPU2, thus rendering the 50Hz modification a failure. It was truly mortifying, especially since I'd already easily performed the same mod on a UK SNES, and spent a couple of days respraying the case back to its original colour. I'm never doing it that way round in the future.
Anyway, after seeing all the lovely things posted in this very thread, I was finally motivated to have a stab at soldering to the stump. To my surprise, I made very swift progress. In the end, it was necessary to heat the bare point and then heat the tinned wire from the other side and press it into place. This gave just enough contact for the switches to work properly. Then, I went and got a hot glue gun and glued it firmly into place. It worked, too!
The above picture shows my PAL copy of DKC running in 60Hz, after successfully circumventing the video check. If you want to see what colout the console was before I painted it, look here(!):

The paint I used wasn't an exact match (slightly yellow, compared to the US SNES's pink hue), but it's miles better than it was! I'm really pleased I decided to stick with grey, too.
It's incredible how brittle and ****ty the plastic they used it. When file the holes for the switches, it was like a knife through butter, compared to the UK SNES.
Really liking the shallow depth of field on the SNES (just got a 50mm lens with f1.8
)
Now to play DKC in RGB.
