I was lucky back then because I had a JPN MD and a SFC so the best of both worlds was at hand.

There are two games that for me define the Mega CD. Final Fight (arcade perfect 2 player port, shat on the SNES version) and Sonic CD (the best 2D sonic game ever made).
Final Fight was ace though , more or less the Coin Up in your home , amazing back then .
To me Batman Returns , shows off the Mega CD is all its splendour. Roation and scaling that no other console could handle back then with buildings that looked the most solid and convincing , smoothing scale past , explosions the size of the screen , and immense soundtrack . It was truly jaw dropping back then . Lunar too, was simply amazing , not only the best RPG (still) , but one of the few games, where I cared about the world and the characters , and one of the few RPG's , that when finished , I want to play through again .
Also while no doubt PC users will say their version had more colour , To be able to play near Perfect version of Rise Of the Dragon and Wing Commander was something special back then , more so as Wing Commander had all the scaling and rotation effects , and gave the 8 PCM chip a good world out with all the speech and effects .

Of course, as the SNES apparently shat on everything barring Final Fight CD it could have easily handled a far superior port of the game (just like it did with Final Fight).
