Oddly enough, or maybe not... I'm not so sure. I got the Saturn out tonight (yeah, I packed it up a while ago). I was going to do some video capture for the site but played Daytona for a few hours instead. OK, the graphics suck but there's something there that manages to capture the authenticity of the arcade machine.
*sigh*

Err, what??
Anyways...
He might have been a cheetos muncher by the looks of it
(he's from the Netherlands, hence the yellowing)
Oh man, that's a hell of a receiver, forgot how big it is...
Price is ok, but yeah, I hope you can get it white again.Last edited by Shinebi; 27-09-2006, 07:16.

The AI is true to the arcade but the Saturn's framerate make it look like it's just random movements at time. A shame that. Both excellent games regardless. My fave racing game ever, easily. Why haven't SEGA done a perfect home version yet? We have SEGA Rally, WHERE'S DAYTONA FFS?!
...
Sorry... Less said about CCE though, the better

Alf81 - I'd love to see a full translation, but in the meantime there's a couple of decent walkthroughs on gamefaqs.
I've thought about this before and mooted it but if there were enough people up for it we could set up a thread with a japanese speaker/translator to guide a group of followers through the game... You'd be looking for a really altruistic 'guide' though, unless you set up some kind of barter ('Get me through Princess Crown and I'll help you 1 credit the mothership on R-Type'). That would be kinda cool, actually, although in essence it's maybe a kind of formalisation of what forums like NTSC-UK do anyway. Princess Crown would be a great starting point.

Most of it, but not all, was recovered. Browse this thread for a bit more info and a link to what's left of the translation - bear in mind it's not complete and a bit jumbled in places.

Daytona USA is my most played coin up of all time, I've put more than ?500 into that baby easy . I'm still so pissed off we haven't had a perfect port yet, I still pay full price for it, and even more if it had online play for like 20 players.
And yes the less said about CCE the better, nice tech demo but thats about the only good thing I can say about the game.
A massive letdown much like Daytona USA II inthe Arcades

Waaah???
Oh man, I was sooo disappointed that Daytona 2 wasn't coming for the DC, and now you're dissing the game?? I'm just a little happy they've put some of the stages in Outrun 2... (I don't care if the spirit of Daytona 1 wasn't there)
I really liked the hectic scenery, the Flying Dutchman, the rollercoasters,...
much like Scud Race, aaaargh!!! Why didn't they port this game, they could've easily, just as they did Fighting Vipers 2 (which always sucked a little in my opinion)
-very sad indeed-

Updated my Saturn hz list with about 20 games, also got a boxed version UK of Nights into Dream and again that works fine on my Saturn but I did note my Nights CD's are print runs 'A' & 'C'.
There's less than 50 titles left now to test!

CCE is just bad no matter what region it is from

Yes CCE is sh8t not matter which version you get, but I have to agree with S3M Get the Jp version if people must buy any version of CCE. The extra's make it a bit better and its worth it for the Mr Big music (just like Spiderman onthe Mega CD)

Hola. Is there a way to get rid of yellowing on pads, consoles etc then? I figured it was just 'there' and not something that could be scrubbed away or owt, but I'd love to be wrong about this...
Anyway, I was thinking that if I was to have a proper go at testing the infrared pads, I should probably get a decent range of 'test cases' to try out.
I was gonna give Soukyugurengai, Shin Shinobi Den and Pocket Fighter a go to cover shooters, 'arcade action' and fighters respectively - but are these decent representations? Anyone got any suggestions for other genres or games therein they reckon would be a good test, or would like me to have a go at with the infrareds? Anyone care to recommend a nice, arcadey-handling racer in particular? Just as a point of reference my fave recent racers were the Rallisport series, rather than Richard Burns or even Project Gotham...
Cheers gents.Last edited by Fireproofradiator; 30-09-2006, 07:56.
