My main point of interest with the PS1 was Namco games- but recently I have been buying some of the more obscure titles such as Incredible Crisis.

Bishi Bashi Special is a great games like WarioWare. It had a Pal release which can still be found!

Loads of great mini-games make this a riot of fun!

I'm not sure whether it was critically acclaimed or not (as I didn't own a Playstation during it's generational span), but I picked up Silent Bomber dirt cheap a couple of months back, and thought it was really enjoyable.

        I'd certainly recommend it, anyway.

            Pandemonium

Created by one of my favourite developers, Toys For Bob, who also made Star Control 2.

You may also be interested to know, that they actually bothered to optimise Pandemonium for the PAL market. Meaning it runs full speed, full screen. Yup, NO BORDERS.

At least my version did. PAL copy running on a PAL PS2.

Brilliant game, with some astounding music. I was very surprised by it running full speed.

Am I right in thinking that you can't mod a PS1 to give a 60 hz signal like you can Saturn etc?

no, the region of the disc is all that matters.

If you run a US/JPN disc on a PAL machine it will run at 60hz.

Nice haul of games there, MadGear. Which region(s)?

Zanac is definitely worth it - the original game is a bit tame (but then it does come from the NES) but the update is great fun.

It's well worth it, trust me.

Did you get the US version of Pang or the Jp one?

Nope you can't, the game region determines the setting used. I remember having a boot cd-r a good while back however that would let you choose 60hz setting for PAL games, 50hz for NTSC etc.

Although it's not so rare anymore, I adore my copy of Metal Gear Solid, especially since it's the original version and not some silvery-thingy platinum ****e.

Unholy War - really good mix of strategy and action, again by TFB. PAL optimised too!

Treasures of the Deep - painfully overlooked underwater game. I love diving games like this and Everblue. Good action too.

Tail Concerto - Platformer, but it reminds me of the Laputa anime, and to a lesser degree SoA.

Overboard is a fun pirate ships game.

I've played this to death and it's one of the only PS1 games I still play.
