Id say 98, everything just feels "right" I also am partial to 2003 for something purely different and the new garou characters (though poorly animated in comparison to their MOTW counterparts).

?98 SNK?s KoF and greatest of the old school fighters and a dream match to boot, last time KoF had very good Backgrounds and Music, I think the dreamcast version is Evo?99 with 3D background?s.
Of the Playmore selection I would go ?03, plenty of great fighters(Vanessa, Kula, K?) and the art/music is improving after the drop in quality from ?99 to ?02

95 is my fave cos at the end if you complete it with the old drunken man and his crew you are treated to a musical performance by them and a Jpop song.
In all seriousness, they get better with each sequel, so there really is no one definitive version, like Winning 11, it jus improves through history (bloody hell, i sound like that soul cali voice over now).

KoF'97 + KoF'99 are my personal favourites. really can't argue with '98 being the best though, it has everything apart from Geese (in which case you need to look at '96).

No way man! They had to try something new with KoF'99 as even after '98 folks were complaining about things being the same all the time. Fair enough, through strikers you lost your teammates in the background although it opened up way more fun for massive combos (where K' comes in).Originally posted by Street Turk

K? is ace, he?s got the looks, attitude, strength and moves to kick a lot of ass and is very different anti-hero to Iori who?s soul goal is mash Kyo?s face in, and Ash?s which is to steal Flame users abilities to do something with (we?ll find out one day).
KoF should be about
1. Vanessa kicking ass
2. Shingo getting shafted (I hope he gets a Flame one day)
3. Ryo + King comedy Love inComment
