Fatal Fury just SNK experimental rubbish, the only decent pre-MOTW Garou was RB2.

SS and LB are teh king.

It's too bad SNK didn't keep going from strength to strength or else we'd be on Garou 5 by now.

No chance pal! RB1 was ace0rz. Fatal Fury Special is the iconic contender to SF2.

For me KOF '96 and KOF '97 are the best ! I quite like KOF Dream Match on the Dreamcast as well.

Naa, Fatal Fury has always been a experimental fighter and has often suffered because of SNK idea?s, RB was just FF gaining AoF quality sprites with the meaty impacts AoF is associated without the complete crapness of course, and then stapled on that god awful super meter with about 10 different setting?s(ok it 3 setting x 2 SDM but still it bloody stupid), getting infinite crappy super?s is game breaking, and the step out/in function got a few more moves to it, but is no-where as needed or as useful as Parrying or Just Defence is. The Reason MOTW is so good is cos SNK ditched the experimental rubbish in FF.

I've always liked 97, as it had that big tournament feel to it.

You'll have trouble getting a definitive answer on this one, because everyone has a different favourite
My personal fave is '98 (called '99 on Dreamcast) as it felt like a logical progression of style from '95 which I played a lot in the arcade bunking off school.
I felt like '96 and '97 changed styles a little drastically and didn't feel right to me, but that may have been down to me being more used to a Street Fighter 2 style of play, which '95 and '98 alluded to much more.
My KoF98 MVS cart is one game I will never sell.

It has my favourite backgrounds. So well presented.

No, but like you I would take any Fatal Fury from FFS to RBS over a KOF. Real Bout Special, it's just the greatest game.

My vote goes to KOF96, KOF98.

KOF99E is good on the Dreamcast and KOF97 finishes the original story off really well.

2001 & 2002 suck big time compared to the others, R.I.P SNK.

A-****ing-men! Which reminds me I must do the controller adapters for when I use the MVS on my super gun, so that the buttons on the DC sticks are
                        B C D
                        A - -
                        instead of

which it is now so that you can't moan when I beat you*

*or rather, the other way around.

                          I thought it was A B C
                          - - D

                          ???

Yeh but if you think of how a DC stick's set up, it feels better to have the bottom left button as A if you're playing Neo stuff. I reckon so anyway. Having the bottom right button as D means that it feels a little fiddly.

I prefer this on the sticks:

                              ACD
                              B
