Was that an official Panasonic one?, i'm sure a picture of one was posted on here a few years back, might of been yours, not sure.

I picked out the 3DO this weekend and still find it a highly enjoyable machine. Have spent this weekend playing Cannon Fodder, Soccer Kid (god damn this game is HARD!) and Need for Speed. Road Rash still plays very well too but Doom is utterly unplayable if you've got used to the lovely HD(ish) 360 port with a rock solid frame rate.

I never realised the tiny windows were just a PAL issue. I may have to fish for an NTSC FZ-1 (best looking/built console ever tbh) and rebuy a few of my PAL games in NTSC if thats the case, no doubt the frame rates will be slightly smoother too. I did notice Road Rash doesn't have enough memory for music if you play in PAL, is that due to the resolution?

Doom on the 3DO was a bit of a travesty. The game window could be resized to improve the framerate but it meant sitting a lot closer to the TV. Shame as the 3DO version has the best music and the using the shoulder buttons on the pad to strafe worked really well.

Does the NTSC version of Road Rash have in game music?

I don't know myself, just know that there is an option to turn music on, on a PAL console, but you are just greeted with an "insufficient memory" error message so I'm assuming the PAL res caused problems or something.

Feck that. Gimmie an old 2D game over any 3D game, old or new!

Hehe. When I list my top 10 games of all time I think there is only one 3d game in it and it is debatable how 3d it actually is (amplitude). I'm never happier than when I'm playing my snes!

Can the PSP emulate the 3DO, I wonder?

FreeDO was supposed to be destined for other formats, including Xbox (which would've been cool) but it's on indefinite hold at the mo. I don't know if they've given up on FreeDO completely, but they've stopped actively working on it.

Yeah.. the Pal 3DO is really dodgy. I think nearly all the ntsc games run full-screen, with a reasonable resolution.

3DO games are region-free anyway. I have Pal games, that work full-screen on my ntsc machine. Just buy an ntsc machine, and enjoy.

I haven't played Road Rash for years. My memory tells me that it doesn't have in-game music.

Back then, a lot of games streamed the visuals, which meant that in-game music wasn't a feature.

I've heard that the Goldstar 3DOs have problems with memory. I'm not sure about that, but I would always tell people to buy the great looking Panasonic FZ-1 ntsc version.

Anyway, the 3DO does have some games worth playing, but I don't get the same thrills from the machine, that the snes still offers.

I would hope that no one decides to buy a Pal 3DO.

The only problem is that NTSC 3DOs are like gold dust in this country, which means buying one off eBay from the US and paying a huugggge amount of postage.

I looked on Ebay, and it seems that you have a good point. The prices are higher than they were a few years back.

I can't see a point in buying a Pal machine though. The big borders on the games, would be too much for me.

If only there was a 60hz mod.

Remember that freaky gameshow game? I recall that being rather good fun. Might have been called Twisted?

Also lets not forget Return Fire.

Always liked Demolition Man and Space Hulk myself.

Twisted's great. As is Zhadnost, although you need two controllers to play that one, iirc. You can't just pass the controller around (because of competitive minigames).

Cannon Fodder plays really well too I have to say, and it's nice to have "high res" 2D visuals on a TV
