Been playing a few games on my Wiz over the last week...

Still trying to finish Monkey Island. I played a few point 'n' clicks way back when but for some reason I never played Monkey Island or its sequel, so now I'm putting in the time. I'm up to LeChuck's underground cavern at the minute and I've thus far loved the Python-esque humour and I feel that the graphics still hold up well today.

I managed to finish Thunderhawk for the Mega CD the other day -- something I never managed to do back in the day due to me getting bored with it. I must say that the missions are far too repetitive and there is no learning curve whatsoever as regardless which order you do the missions in, they never get any more difficult. An above average game that could've been a great game with a bit more playtesting methinks.

Lastly I've been giving Ground Zero Texas a decent spin. Forgot how crushingly difficult the first level can be unless you don't mind all your team getting kidknapped. It's made all the more weird by the fact that the second level is about a minute long and possibly the easiest level of any game ever created. Trying to plough through the third level now with all the blokes dressed up in those silly alien costumes. I'm loving it!

Currently trying to 1 life Space Harrier II on the MD. I am sure I could do it back in the day but I am getting tired of hearing "get ready"

Speaking of 'one credit' attempts, i confidently made an attempt at eswat the other day. I used to be able to do it without fail when i was a kid. I kept dying on level 2 - the prison boss. From memory, you squatted down, turned to face the one that jumps far left to far right and shoot like heck. Nope, got outgunned?!! The only difference was that where i used to play it on a mega drive, this time round it was on that ps3 collection. I'd probably blame it on waning skill rather than a glitch!

Following all the excitment/disapointment people have been sharing with the Rocket Knight Adventures reboot, I decided to finally sit down with the Megadrive version last night.

Previously I had only really spent 5-10minutes here and there with it. Originally I found the controls a bit too fiddly and the bosses rather challenging. However last night I finally cleared that hurdle.

I began to wonder why I hadnt been playing this game already! RKA is a 16-bit masterpiece. Konami took everythign from their best platformers and created a fast paced adveture. Then arrived the famous Konami/Tiny Toon Adventures minecart rollercoaster
I loved the cut scenes and it started making suggestions to me like 'Sonic doesnt do this till the end of the game'.

Ill be starting Sparkster shortly Good times!

Played Scorcher on the saturn for the past week, I absolutely love the handling on this it feels so slow and unresponsive but it's good. Applying left and right brakes, flowing through the air, repetitive music, and the saturn pushing polygons from everywhere - even the black 2d backgrounds had me in wonder.

I've just started playing Skies of Arcadia on the Game Cube. It seems pretty good but not really living up to the hype so far.

I'd never heard of this before reading your post but I've just seen a video of it on you tube and it looks great. I might end my self imposed Saturn trade embargo.

I remember buying this back in the day, getting it home, playing it, hating the unresponsiveness and head straight back to EB and getting something else lol!

Just been playing New Zealand Story on the MD, it's just too hard! That game is king of the cheap deaths seriously. I want to love it but it's seriously frustrating.

Me and my mate had a N64 night last night.

We started off rinsing through Shadows of the Empire, an under-appreciated classic which has aged badly, although many laughs to be had on the Ord Mantell train level, we left it there and will continue tonight.

Then we had a quick blast on Starfox 64.

Finished off with the starting of a new game on Conker as my mate had never heard of it before (and I couldn't find Mario). I'm hoping we see it through to the end, I remember some rock solid parts and amazing bits of music here and there.

What happened to the retro setup thread? I'm looking at setting up my unused PC as a sort of retro station on the spare room.

Maybe worthy of a new thread?
