Skyblazer on SNES has been getting my attention and it's rather good. Fast and responsive control, a little easy though.

Came free with the Mega Drive back in the day, so probably rose tinted memories of the game.
I thought it was crap.

I'd moved the PS3 to the lounge when I had some mates over to watch The Raid on Blu-Ray months ago, but the brother-in-law is staying over Christmas, so I popped on Burnout 2.
There's an odd glitch where the wheels are glowing white, but the game itself plays perfectly.
I think this is my favourite racing game, although I love the Stuntman series, but they're not really racing.
I gave up on NFS: Hot Pursuit as the handling was terrible (IMHO). On this, you could gauge gaps between vehicles, but on NFS: HP, I always seemed to crash. Most frustrating.
The subsequent Burnout games got bogged down with takedowns and crashes and lost the purity of this game.
They got the risk/reward balance just right. Should I drive into oncoming traffic to fill my boost bar, or just focus on staying in front? Every crash feels fair, either bad driving or you were on the wrong side of the road. The drifting feels lovely and it's forgiving enough to avoid pad-throwing.
The races are just tricky enough to keep replaying until you get all-gold or win the unlockables.
Needless to say the brother-in-law had "one more race" until the early hours!

Spent the day playing Zero 3 and absolutely loving it. I haven't played it for a good while but the game is just so fun and has all the modes you could ever want. Actually making progress with R. Mika who despite her lack of combos is an absoloute beast! Might have to hit the arcades tomorrow to test her out against real opposition!

Pulled my pokemon mini out today & found a battery for it, sat on my bed for most of the afternoon going through all the games, it's 11 years old & some of the games still have secrets i haven't seen. Pokemon anime card daisakusen still suprises me even now, today i got a few card combos that have animated sequences if you get a certain hand, not seen them till now. Spent a rather long time on shock tetris & pinball mini too. Gah i really wish there had been more games for it than just 10, some of them are still a lot of fun even now. With all these fancy new handhelds that are out now, they may be basic in comparison but they are nicely crafted games.Last edited by importaku; 30-12-2012, 17:37.
