Inspired by this thread I played Aladdin on the Snes last night for the first time in ages. I'd forgotten how good and polished that this game is. The graphics and animation are stunning, and the controls are spot on, making it easy to perform all sorts of lovely flips and jumps. I also forgot about the glide button till a couple of levels in!

Also a special mention must go to the music. This must have been composed by the same guy/team that did Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts, as it shares some similarites (especially track 7 in the sound test). A magical score that suits the game perfectly.

I also played the Addams Family game. It's a lovely little Mario clone (flying hat power up, fireball power up), but has it's own charm and a feel that you just don't get nowadays.

I remember at school borrowing this from a friend and finishing it in one night without losing a continue. Obviously my gaming powers have faded nowadays...

Aladdin on the SNES always gets overshadowed by the MD version. It's not fair, but that's the case. It's a really brilliant game. I think some people think it's too straightforward, but.. that's just another plus point in my book.

I remember liking the Addams Family game. Sharp, impressive visuals, and great sound. It's a quality package. I'm not sure about bad points. I'll have to play it again.

The Adams Family isn't without bad points. It feels a bit 'floaty' and the collision detections sometimes feels a bit off, but that said it's worth 10 of your Bubsy the Bobcat/Rayman ****e any day of the week.

I'v got the 2nd one as well (Pugsly's Scavenger Hunt?) but havn't really played much of that yet.

*Edit* Maybe it's a bit harsh to put bubsy in with Rayman. I enjoyed bubsy back in the day although it's not top notch it still is ok. Rayman on the other hand...

I would be joining in this topic more if I had daily access to my beloved SNES. Guess I'll just have to make do with Chrono Trigger on the DS at the moment.

I liked all three Adam's Family games on the SNES, always had fond memories of the first two games. I perferred the first game over the second as a platformer.

Third one was a really nice Zelda style clone rpg.

Found this set of video's on youtube featuring, some of the lesser know SNES games.

That Spiderman/X-Men game is worth buying, purely for the am-uh-fuccin'-azing Tim Follin music. Pretty cack game, mind.

^It's funny you should mention that spiderman game. As I was browsing through my snes games yesterday it causght my eye and I was ALMOST going to put it on just to listen to the title screen!

Another game I was playing last night was Killer Instinct. Now, I know the Snes version is cut doen yadda yadda, but what an achievment it is.

The gaphics while looking a bit smuddgy still do a half decent job of emulating the arcade version. The gameplay is pretty tight with all the combos I used to use in the arcade still seemingly present and correct (don't kick me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert at this game!).

The sound is very impressive with some beefy beats and pounding samples driving each stage, as well as the Mortal Kombat esq voiceover announcing each combo.

I know the game itself divides opinion, but I'v always been a fan, and in the absence of any other console version (yes I know there is "Gold" on N64, which is also ace), the Snes version is a decent stab at it, especially considering the technical limitations.

That's a great vid, loads of games i never heard of, didn't even know there was more than one hebereke game on the sfc.
It's made me want to order some more games now though.

I'm a big fan of SM2. It's always been a captivating experience. Full of fun and things to do. I sometimes think I like it more than SMW.

TMNT was fantastic. For me it was the best beat em up away from SF2. Played so well and had great combos. Mortal Kombat was poor in comparison.

SM2 yes was a great title. It still felt great to play like Mario but offered a totally fresh feel and after at first being disappointed with it I ended up loving it. It doesn't beat SMW but its the next best in the series. Nice use of the 4 characters too.

Argh, I've done 95 levels and I can't see where the life of me where the 96th is. I've even checked a youtube walkthrough video and still can't see it, I've done all the ones I can think of and went through the map several times checking. erm.

That's why I always play it on gba when I want to get all the exits. Tried to do it on the sfc once, but got to the end with about 92 exits, and no recourse but to go through every level again. To hell with that!

haha! got it, I'd have never have found that, its bizarre why that level has two end gates too. weird.

                              Forest of Illusion
*At the end, we had 1 gate left and it was driving us crazy. Make special note, there are TWO exits from that ghost house, the line between the first forest level (mario is on it) and the ghost house (luigi) can be beaten in both directions, and must be to get all 96 gates.

You can get a different '96' by getting every single yoshi coin on every level. erm, screw that.

What to play next I wonder, I have about 28 carts but I'm not sure as of yet.

Here are some games that I like.

                                Space Football

It's a SNES version of Ballblazer. You're in a mode7 arena and have to whizz around trying to get the puck. Once you get it - you have to speed towards the goal and get a touchdown. It plays well( once you get used to it )

                                Rock N' Roll Racing

This is a real classic. Like RC PRO AM for the NES - it's a really fun game to play. The music and speech are still impressive. I was playing this the other week and really enjoyed it again.

Joe And Mac 2: Lost In Tropics

The first Caveman Ninja game was really impressive, and this sequel is also excellent. Big, bold visuals, great sound, and lots of action. Data East did good.
