I dont think anyone actualy bought Cannon Spike when it was released becuase the last time i checked ebay for it there was about fifty thousand sealed copies of it on there. Its neither rare or expensive really.

A while back Powerstone 2 was quite expensive if I remember correctly too, well the average price seemed over 20 quid anyway. Course it has been rereleased on the PSP since then.

As for more recent matters.... Theres a factory sealed shenmue 2 on ebay for £140 at the moment if youre intrested?

While I don't think it's that rare but GTA 2 has two different package designs one of which is also missing the BBFC logo, but both our English UK releases.

Didn't they change the cover because it looked too similar to the first game, thats what I heard anyway.

I think the first game cover design is the second release of GTA2, but I could be wrong.

Actually your right, I got it mixed up, it was something to do with people not knowing the cover with GTA2 written on it was a sequel to Grand Theft Auto so they switched it to a more familiar cover below.

Just sourced Evolution 2 for £22. Hopefully it's going to be in English (i've bought it from Germany, but a reader says his is English).

Which PAL releases are best avoided? Unoptimised 50Hz is fine because you can force that into 60Hz easily enough but which games are half optimised or with removed VGA modes? I know about Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia.

Your PAL DC FAQs is a very useful and interesting read.

One thing though, the way the info on PAL and NTSC reads makes it sound as though PAL games running at 60Hz have higher resolution than their NTSC versions. PAL60 is 480i just like NTSC except it has a slightly different technical specification for the colour carrier.

I've come across significant numbers of people online including some on even quite technically orientated web sites who clearly believe PAL60 is 576i/60Hz. Any superiority in PAL60 over NTSC is minor and of far more significance is the fact most PAL users will be using RGB (SCART) rather than S-Video more typical for US users. With VGA such issues are, of course, irrelevant.

Also something that may be of minor interest for the FAQS which I don't think was mentioned is that the Dreamcast UK 100% Unofficial Magazine Ultimate Cheats (Vol.2) cover disc listed also boots NTSC games.
I would guess the same applies for Vol.1 but can't confirm it.

I've had that Vol.2 disc sitting unused in a drawer for years and it's survived two cover disc clearout sessions but only recently discovered that it works for this purpose. I dread to think what other useful stuff I may have chucked out.

From my experience, not many go for more than ?25-30 regularly, except Moho, 3rd Strike, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Rez, Rival Schools, Shenmue II and Evolution 2.

There are some you wouldn't expect that go around the ?20 mark at times... Tokyo Highway Challenge 2, Sword of the Berserk and a few others.

Glad you liked the FAQ fallenangle and cheers for the info, my FAQ does need an update in a few places, and one thing’s for sure I need to make it clear that VGA is mode is basically 480p. Reading it now a few areas of the FAQ could be better worded in places.

In the section, I think your referencing to I was trying to explain the differances in TV system's and not how the Dreamcast uses it, but reading it now I can see why it would cause some confusions. (Plus when I wrote that section back in 2003 I didn't know anything about HD at the time.)

True some of the PAL games do differ in how they display, since the last updated I've met a real NTSC tech guy, who when it comes to video game consoles knows his stuff.

And as you say most PAL60 DC games I too expect them to be running at 576i/60Hz. I'll run it by my tech friend when he's back off holiday.

One thing he has told me is that The House of the Dead 2 and I think Toy Commander are the only true optimised PAL games in how they work and he’s a guy who won’t normally ever touch a PAL game, but for the PAL version of The House of the Dead 2 he makes an exception!!

I do need to get around to updating it again.

I always thought it was pulled due to the sniper killings in america, at the time the media was suggesting the box art was in bad taste?

Can understand them changing to the familiar GTA branding too.

Always remember Heavy Metal Geomatrix and Cannon Spike being in short supply, Spawn In the Demons Hand was always a hard one to find and normally always £20+

PAL-60 is NTSC with the chroma part converted to PAL (both encoding and subcarrier frequency, 4.43 MHz).

Strangely if you put the question "What is PAL 60?" to Wiki Answers the result is ambiguous as it makes no mention about the resolution.
