I've only ever considered cart only in exceptional circumstances (too cheap to pass up or the CIB is prohibitively expensive...like my Turtles in Time it cart it was WAY too cheap to pass on & the CIB is just plain stupid) to me the thrill of owning the game is having everything with it, the box, the manual everything
If I'm collecting cart only I might just as well go emulation & play a ROM, it seems almost the same thing to me.
I have hundreds of games across all systems & I only have a few cart only everything else is boxed from spectrum right the way through to the PS3/360

I used to collect boxed games, but then decided to cut down on storage and worrying about whether the boxes were getting damaged or not. So lots of Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Color boxes went in the bin. Kept the boxes for my favourite games.
I've done the same with PS2, 360 and PS3, but not quite as ruthlessly, partly because the bozes are more durable and also because it's easier to trade those games in at the moment - trading in Gameboy games means going into Tokyo to find a shop that will take them. So I've only done it to the fun but not remotely collectable games - trashed the boxes and put the disks into a CD wallet.

Tomato,
I can understand your point & you're not wrong there is a lot of wasted space but to me I've always prided myself on taking care of everything I have which in the case of games meant boxes & everything so I'm looking to get a collection together that I would have been able to collect originally & in a condition that I would have kept them in.

Oh wait.
But I have made provision with my XRGB so I can make the best of a bad situation
When we move i might have room for a 14"/21" CRT but until then it's make do & even when we move it might not be practical but at least I can get reasonable quality on the Plasma in the meantime

I do get a little bit of image haze if it's been on for a long time but that soon goes after powering off...this is true for everything though even broadcast images can be seen very faintly after it powers down but nothing stays & I can't notice anything lasting on there.

I can't understand people who, say, collect every single game for a system, but it's interesting to read the opinions and experiences of those who do. Likewise I have no interest in box art, but I realise other people do. Maybe I have come across as criticising your approach, but it wasn't the intention.
I wasn't insinuating that you were nit-picking or being argumentative I was just trying to explain my reason behind CIB collecting & I didn't mean to make you think we were getting into a ruck
We are all good
