Wasn't impressed by NiGHTS playing it for the first time on PS3.

This is reminding me of the time when Shozuki told me he didn't like Sega Rally.

But in all seriousness, Nights isn't a game for everyone. You have to really 'dig' the concept otherwise it might all seem pretty pointless.

From the other thread (concerning Nights):

Keep your eye on the 'Link' (collection combo) at the bottom.

Collect 20 blue pearls/gems ASAP and deliver them to the floating globe to unlock the 2x score crystal, then go mental for the remainder of your time on the clock (by getting a high 'Link' count). It leads to some very deep play eventually as you have to work out the best patterns and wrap them all up within the time you've set for yourself without failing to return to the checkpoint in time. It's #3 on my all time top 10.

Yeah, Pikate, the stick isn't mapped for 360 control for some absurd reason. I think I prefer the Saturn version still.

I thought NiGHTS HD had been patched to sort the control issues? I've been close to buying it off PSN or XBLA but if there are still issues I won't bother.

Nights has indeed been patched to add more precise analogue control.

I think the HD version is perfectly fine now that it's been patched, aside from lacking the 'presents' and calendar system from Christmas Nights.

Well, if it helps, I've played more of it now and it's been a lot more enjoyable That video dataDave posted was very impressive - going to take a bit of practise before I reach that level methinks...

The only thing that's pissing me off is the boss at the end of Claris's 3rd stage, the one that throws cards at you. I can't consistently dodge those cards and even when I do I'm not quite sure whether I'm actually hitting it or not. The Hint screen is telling me to smash the "wings" (no idea what they are) that detch when you land a hit on the body, but aiming for those doesn't seem to make a connection.

EDIT: Is that true that the game doesn't actually have full 360 analog control? I can't say I'd noticed.

Excellent. I'll give it another bash.

So the Super Famicom buying spree continues & had these 2 arrive today...

Both are minty fresh but Aladdin does have that odd sticker across the front which is a little annoying but for the price I'm not too fussed really.

Looking forward to seeing how Aladdin compares to the amazing Megadrive version.

Aladdin is a much better game than the spongy MD version.

                        Really??

I was always under the impression it was the other way round with the MD version being superior.

Edge gave Aladdin 8/10 on MD and 6/10 on SNES so it's safe to say the SNES version is better then...

The MD version had headache inducing scrolling, every time you turn it goes nuts. Also the combat is weak and level design uninspired. It got my on smooth animation, much like most of the games Shiny made.

Back in the day I remember being blown away by Aladdin on the MD. Definitely a game you'd show to your friends when they'd claim that their SNES had superior graphics. Never had any headaches playing it too....

I agree. The Capcom game was annoying IMO and quite stiff to play.
