The white Stig is dead. As Ben Collins was outed lat year, they needed a new one so the MS stunt was their way of killing whitey.

      Will Young

        really good episode tonight

i feel the cuts in budget they've had have bought the show much closer again to the better shows of a few years back.

I'm really getting tired of Top Gear now. The show has become so utterly obvious due to scripting that the show's lost all sort of natural humour. I like the presenters, but on Top Gear with the script writers and the popularity of the show, they are playing up to their percieved on-screen characters. You get the feeling that they are under pressure to live up to the quality of shows that made them so popular, and they feel everything must be written in advance, rather than just giving each presenter £1000 to buy an old car, and let them all naturally create the comedy through the problems that would arise with an old banger/sportscar.

I remember when Top Gear won an award for most unscripted humorous show. What happened to those days.

Think yourself extremely lucky you don't live here in Japan. EVERY TV show here is so bloody obvious and EVERY TV show here is the same! Japanese TV sucks major bollocks without a doubt.

I still haven't seen last nights Top Gear due to the time differences so I'll be watching it tonight. I know what you mean about the "comedy" being scripted but to be honest I've found it to be like that for the last 2 seasons. It's still a very good show though that puts the likes of Fifth Gear to shame. Saying that, I still watch Fifth Gear

Yakumo, you may want to avert your eyes if you are avoiding what happened.

Wish they'd made more of the F1 Vs Veyron race, I would have enjoyed that as a feature for sure.

The whole Murcialego LP 4 670 SP SV xyz abc 123 feature was brilliant and the race against the SLR 722 was just epic. The presenters are so damn lucky sometimes.

Thought Stephen Fry was great as he always is, could have done with talking about cars a little more than gay cruising but it was certainly funny.

The whole 17 y.o car challenge, average, apart from the leaving the field bit which had me in stitches. Been there, done that.

I'm glad you mentioned that because I thought the same too. I know it's always been a little contrived in places but last night seemed so completely scripted both in the studio and on the challenge.

The 3am bit was awful wasn't it. It's a shame the scripted bits in challenges and the news are so contrived because I love the show when they pitch it right, eg the office scene, all the stuff shot in Dubai, the two girls behind Hammond...

I actually LOL'd at that section! A complete waste of time mind you, but then most of the show was. Only bits I liked really were the parts in Dubai.

I'm sure the laughter is always genuine but the Clarkson crashing, Mays stereo coming on stuff clearly isn't and I can't believe anyone would think it is.

Thing is, when they won that Emmy for best unscripted show, they laughed because they clearly have always scripted it.
