possible I suppose but considering "The Man from Tallahassee" is also the title of the episode I think its got to be a bit more significant than just refering to Jack.
Notice in the latest that Lockes hand was bandaged? Reckon he gave his dad a bit of a pasting.
Seeing as you brought up the sub theres something else from that episode that no one has mentioned too, how come Locke is soaking wet when everyone bumps into him at the dock? The last time we see him before this he is in the control room of the sub and he's bone dry. Did he actually blow the sub up or move it away, then have to swim back to the dock before rigging up some C4 to blow up the doc so it looks like he blew up the sub? He definitely knew he was being manipulated so maybe he didnt actually go through with it.

Well the force field was down when the two girls woke and we have no idea why it was left down (assuming it was done by the retreating Others) or shut down (possibly the reason for the Others to leave to escape the monster/magicbox/cerebus/blacksmoke-impersonator). I'm still not sold on the black smoke becoming people physically but maybe it allows people to see them in their mind like Jack's Dad, Ecko's brother, etc - Locke's dad could therefore not actually be there but just what he believes he is seeing and in the only way he could imagine him appearing (captured and tied up)...
Forget all that, it sounds silly.
To further the point about the smoke monster being in the room with Locke... remember what Ben said about opening a box and there being anything you thought about in your mind? He wants to take revenge on his dad, so all of a sudden he appears for him to do so.Last edited by Concept; 10-04-2007, 16:32.

Actually on that note of the black smoke transforming into memories and desires... in my opinion Desmond wanted to be absolved of responsibility of losing the woman he loved and destroying his life by becoming shipwrecked on the island, and who appears to help him do so in his 'time travel' flashback?A convenient mysterious lady who tells him it isn't his fault and he has no control over his destiny.
It's the same with Locke here... the coincidence is too coincidental.Last edited by Concept; 10-04-2007, 16:38.

Cool! I knew I was right all along
The only thing that was going against the smoke monster as people from the past theory was when the horse appears and both Kate and Sawyer see it - but that was cleared up when they found the farm recently...not that a horse is going to be somebody from your past...but you get what I mean about how the show has thrown weird **** into the mix as well to keep things confusing. I like that the flashes are some way of recording things from your mind that can then be projected back in as a manipulated form. It would go nicely with the rather dated version of mind control we see the boyfriend of the French womans daughter being expossed too. And most of the experiments I can think of are about mind control (make you stay in a room punching in numbers, make Polar Bears perform a sequence for food, erm can't think of any more). Infact the show itself makes people come back and watch it everyweek - they are already in our heads ARGHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!

So, SO disappointing...I really hoped it didn't go that way.
