      Ep 22 question:

For those who were paying more attention with the timeline jumping all over the place, how far away was the others camp and how long was Michael gone for?

      Comment

Well it said 13 days said I presume Michael was gone for that length of time. And I think the camp was a day and a half away.

This link has the series finale ep synopsis ,warning it gives away a lot of big spoilers including the big secret thats behind the dharma door.http://www.4815162342.com/forum/viewtopic2.php?t=18870
If you download walts comic you'll see that it has major hints of what lost is about, not too surprising as both writers are huge comic fans.
A lot of people are saying that its fake, but reading the info it would all tie in with what we have seen over the last two seasons.

Wow. Better than the rest of Season 2 put together.

Ep 22 - a good episode but again it spends ages building something up which never happens (until next week?). The series has suffered from this since the very first episode, and it is so tedious.

I just get the feeling the writers have no idea what they are doing and making it up as they go along.

                  Then stop watching it.

From interviews I've heard and read, I quite disagree.

                    Yeah yeah

It is still entertaining, but I find it so frustrating to watch. The problem I was getting at is many episodes spend most of the running time building up some great event which then never actually happens, or never leads anywhere.

I still don't get why people are complaining...season 1 COULDN'T be like season 2 has been...when season 1 aired we knew absolutely nothing about what was going on so they had to reveal things to keep you interested, but even then the backstories were the majority of the show.

The show seems (to me) to be about characters, not actions...about personalities and not the island. People expecting season 2 to be reveal after reveal were always going to be disappointed. Season 2 has been great for me, moments like

the black smoke...the other hatches, the medical hatch, the others, charlie's development etc

have all been excellent. People who think nothing has happened need to maybe look through the events of season 2 and realise (in my opinion at least) that an awful lot HAS happened and rather a lot HAS been revealed, more so than season 1! In season 1 it was about escape and exploration, season 2 has been about acceptance and dealing with the unseen force that seems to be controlling and killing them at will.

The only reason season 2 has appeared to be poor is the constant breaks between episodes, meaning if watched as one whole, you never get the poor episodes because they are always followed by an eventful one, that isn't the shows writers/producers fault, thats the network scheduling. I'd bet that 90% + of the people watching it on here got to see season 1 in a nice big chunk via either downloading or the dvds...that makes a HUGE difference for me.

Fair points and I agree that a lot has happened, but you've also highlighted the fault that is being made:

the black smoke...the other hatches, the medical hatch, the others, charlie's development etc
None of these have been followed up in any form since their event took-place, and almost entirely forgotten about.

the black smoke was a cool moment early in season 2, but hasn't had a single mention, reference or development since.

                          .

Maybe an awful lot will happen in the final two episodes

What was followed up on in season 1 though? We spent half the season trying to get into the hatch and the reveal was just the darkness inside, that was the last scene of season 1...we waited MONTHS for the follow up being the opening episode of season 2!

The boat set sail in season 1 but we didn't find out what happened til season 2, we knew they went overboard but thats it!

I think the seasons have been very similar to be honest, where we had episodes setting up the characters in season 1, we had them again in season 2 with the new characters involved. However, in season 2 we've SEEN a LOT more than season 1. The things I mentioned being the tip of the iceberg...what we got in season 1 was polar bears, wierd noises and a hatch. I put it to you that we STILL don't know what the polar bears were about, or the noises and the hatch...well, we know whats there but not what for or why!

I think a LOT will be seen in the final two episodes, but to be fair to the writers, in the last US episode we got to see the others properly, hear them talk etc which is a LOT more than season 1...all season 1 we were left wondering "what the ****?".

I think a lot of the anger might stem from the fact the others are humans whereas a lot of people thought there might be something wierder and more sinister going on thanks to the voices/noises and the chains etc.

The "monster" as such has barely been explored the entire show length...we heard chains in the first season and black smoke in the second...still no idea what the hell is going on.

                            Oh but regarding the

                            black smoke

...wasn't the woman speaking with Michael (the one who seemed the boss) the woman from that vision Eko saw in the

                            black smoke

                            ?

See, I think that's why I've not enjoyed much of season 2. For me its all about the island. The long flashbacks of characters don't really tell me that much about the people involved considering the time spent on them. We obviously have a chance to play "Where's Wally?" with the rest of the cast and their relatives, but the novelty value of that soon expired for me. I get it. I understand that whether its fate, a higher power or something else, these people's lives have intertwined inexplicably, leading them all to be on the island at this point in time.

There's no doubting the writers of Lost are a clever bunch, but that makes it all the more irritating when they resort to lazy, paint-by-numbers plot-lines and then ask the viewer to suspend their disbelief time and time again to explain why characters can't see the bleeding obvious.

I don't want to stop watching it because I want to find out what the deal is with the island. I think it was me that used the term prick-tease months ago near the start of season 2 as they'd just drag certain things out over weeks so that they could devote more time to the back-stories. I'll happily admit that some of the back-stories were well done and that there are some interesting characters in there, but too many times this season the pacing has been off, the balance between island and back-story has been off and the stereotyping of characters with their predictable traits and stories has been done to death. And as for the amount of issues that remain unresolved....

I'm waiting for some fan site on the web to put a cut together which just has the island stuff in it fom each season. I'll bet you can still figure out what particular demons are plaguing all of the main characters without all the backstory stuff.

heh, man after my own heart, plus the season would be 50% shorter
