Really enjoyed this episode, finally an episode that wasn't boring and didnt really involve the others on the island!! Got me thinking big time

Far from being an in between episode, IMO. Best so far of the series - as mentioned, opened up numerous new ideas, and moved the story along and simultaneously advanced relevant characterisation with it (something I feel series two has been having a hard time jelling together with many episodes).

I thought it was a pretty mediocre episode. Hurley is a fun character which certainly elevated it above the other filler episodes, but it annoys me how the writers will start an interest story arc (as they did last week), then leave it virtually untouched the next week.

          I'm now wondering

If it's not a "matrix" style thing - i.e they're all strapped to tables in some laboratory somewhere taking part in a "mutual illusion" or whatever the correct terminology is.

Very good episode anyway - really got me thinking again which for me is the mark of a good lost episode.

Its still amazing how episodes of Lost can polarise opinion so much.

            As for the whole

Matrix suggestion, I think there would be outcry if it really was all in his imagination as its a bit of a cop-out. Sounds a bit like Hurley's sub-conscious trying to put all the pieces of coincidence together for him.

It's worth taking note of who wrote each episode. If it's Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof (who created Lost with J.J.Abrams), then it will likely be an island centric good episode. If it's someone else then you may end up with filler.

I hope it doesn't end up like that ... after watching the recent episode (which I admit to liking a lot!), the wife asked me "what the hell just happened there?", and I made some hazy speculation that the island is

some kind of metaphysical realm in which "lost" people end up ... people in comas, the mentally ill, people close to death, etc ... so it's not just in Hurley's mind, it's in everyone's minds, but they're all in the same metaphysical place

... just a guess, and doesn't really explain a lot of stuff.

Kinda what I was getting at Peeveen - I'd be gutted if that's the route it took as well but I guess we'll just have to keep watching

                  It was the

Stuff about "God" that got me thinking that - i.e Hanzo or whoever it is is the "God" in this "place" because "Not even God can see it"

If you were to ask me how Dharma fitted in with the theory, I'd suggest that maybe the Dharma guys are actually from the "real world", and they've found a way into this realm to exploit it for whatever purpose ... kinda like Windholm Earle and the Black Lodge, if you ever watched Twin Peaks. Note how nobody saw or heard a plane for the supply drop ... it just sort of "appeared" there ... perhaps the lockdown was to keep people indoors during some kind of trans-dimensional "teleportation", to prevent accidents ...

                    All just random straw-grasping though.

May be straw-grasping but I like it There's not enough of that type of speculation in this thread it just seems to have turned into "This week was great I bet next week is ****" or "This week is **** I'm getting really sick of Lost" - everybody seems to have forgotten there's a rather intriguing mystery which is why we're watching in the first place.

I like it though - the whole

                      another dimension concept.

biggest question for me at the moment is

How Desmond got there and where he has got to now - remember he was originally waiting for "him" who everybody took to be Walt.

The whole thing with the Henry Gale pathological lying is interesting as well and the "I'm not a bad person" comment - presumably relating to this whole "good/bad" thing from when (un)Bearded man was asking Ethan about the "list"

I thought the whole point of this episode was to dispell the theoris that it was all a dream of someone.

There will be 24 episodes. The writing has yet to be completed, let alone the filming and post.

Sceptical about the impartiality of the Danielle character. Typical French, appears to be on your side but is really a turncoat infiltraitor. Coincidence she was the one who brought Henry in? I think not.
