Anyone notice the nod to 'The watchmen' graphic novel, smiley faced balloon.
The writers have both said it was a major influence in them starting writing, infact there are many similarities in 'lost' and the alan moores epic comic.
The last hurley based ep was probably the writers messing around with the various rumours on the net that everything in the show is in hurleys imagination.
They have said that stephen kings 'The Stand' is a main influence as well, infact they've said they are amazed that he has'nt tried to sue them yet!!!

Just finished watching episode 19. I'll wait for someone with patience to point me out all the subtle signs and stuff as I just take them at face value these days.

The question for all of us at work waiting is... was it any good?

            Ep 19 spoilers:

I thought it was pretty dull to be honest, but I think its just me that's starting to go off the series tbh. Another case of dragging out actual events on the island.

They focused on a couple of the minor characters and you get to see some scenes with loads of faces from the plane who have survived, so there's not going to be any shortage of new characters to use. Turns out the black woman (forget her name) saw Locke in his wheelchair and she had cancer - she's realised the island has "cured" them both.

Don't quite understand how more people didn't see Locke in his wheelchair, but there you go.

Michael is back, right at the end as Jack and Kate go to offer Henry in an exchange for Walt. Henry says they'll never get Walt back, alluding to the fact they'll get Michael instead.

Not much else happens I'm afraid. A bit frustrating really, but not at all surprising.

Oh yeah, black woman's husband points out that they're all getting a bit comfortable on the island when they should be trying to get off it, making signs for planes and stuff to see. He's shot down as Jack doesn't give it his OK as he's off getting trapped in nets again. Which reminds me, all these intelligent people with criminal minds, aren't half daft when the storyline suits them. This time its Kate forgetting they're on an island and getting them caught in an oh-so-subtle net based trap.

Anyway, the point about them not doing much to get off the island. I'm a bit confused as to why they're all resigned to staying on the island and also still not talking to each other about important information they all find out? I could see that happening after years on the island, but why now? I'm just waiting for that to be explained by the magical island theory again.

Fact. Rose was seen by a healer who 'saw' something in her. Something that shocked him.

Fact. The Aussie girl was also seen by a healer/phychic type dude, he 'saw' something that shocked him too.

Fact. Walt was said to be 'special'

Add those together and it's getting plain to see that it is these people have not just come to gether by accident, they were meant to be on thta island for some reason.

With Rose being healed and Locke walking again it brings together the line about different energies 'magnetic' was mentioned by the healer.

So, a special place with special people, who just happened to be on the same flight and just happen to have links in their lives outside of the island?

Not a blockbuster episode but things are starting to tie together. The panning across Rose, Locke, Jin(he who could have no child off the island) and th Aussie girl must have some significance. Wonder what the Aussie girl has to do with this 'power'?

Locke's faith is being challenged by Henry.

Another interesting episode. Next one should be good

with Michael coming back from his adventure.

                  Query:

Anyone notice a picture of George Galloway in the collage, in the healers place? Or is it someone that looks very much like him.

happened the same way with the young girl with the baby

she was put on that particular flight to get the child adopted

and it had only to be that flight

no spoiler since thats from season 1

                    but another decent episode

I thought it was another weak episode to be honest.

What on earth is all this religious crap in the show now? Ecko building a CHURCH?!

And Rose visiting a 'faith' healer?

It's just ridiculous and along with the incredibly pedestrian pace of the plot is really turning me off Lost. The first season was great, but this one, I'd say at best it's mediocre, with many of the episodes being downright poor.

Focussing on Rose and Bernard didn't seem to mame much sense either. Neither of them seemed to have interesting lives at all. The only interesting element was telling us that Rose had cancer, and she saw Locke in a wheelchair. Something they could have shown us in a 5 minute segment, not spread it paper thin over a 45 minute episode.

Unless there's a really fantastic end to this season then I doubt I'll be back for the third.

That's the point though Kotatsu - You can guarantee the last few will be blinders (haven't they said the last 5 are really ramping it up a gear) and by the end you'll be champing for more like a crack addict

                          Comment

I've thought the same, the pace will go mad for the last few episodes to suck you back in for season 3.

Isn't one of the upcoming episodes called "?" which would imply they reach/find the "mother bunker" ???

                              Comment

"?" That's been about the only interesting mystery this season.

They'll be lots of discussion about it, and Jack will accuse Locke of being crazy and ignore all the facts. Hopefully Locke will get out of that ****ing hatch and go back to being interesting (that is after all the purpose of revealing the UV map to him, surely).

As for finding it, well that'll be the cliff hanger.

I read a real interesting theory behind Lost, I'll try and dig it out....
