Do what I do - stop watching the show and just check on this thread every now and again. I gave up on this prick tease of a show several eps into season 2 but I'll gladly start watching it again if it looks like it might ever start to go somewhere. This thread is invaluable for that. Reminds me of the guy in Lost Boys who didn't need a tv because he got the tv guide. He was totally right.

Was watching a episode here in ireland a few nights ago (we are i think about 6 episodes into season 2 )

And they had a recap episode where it showed everything that had happened up to that point.

An to be honest i enjoyed the recap episode more to me it highlights how much they drag the episodes on

Here's the latest rumours from various forums on the net about next weeks ep 'two for the road'.Warning this will ruin the upcoming episodes!!

Ana lucia is attacked by henry ,she gets away and finds sawyer as she wants a gun to kill henry. She ends up sleeping with sawyer and gets the gun !! This is true as i've seen the clip on the canadian promo!
Flashback shows that she knows jacks dad,she heads back to the hatch but she cant bring herself to pull the trigger.Michael says he'll do it,gunshot but you don't see who he shoots...its ana!!
Seems michael has been sent by the others to help henry with taking the hatch.Henry was a mole sent to gain access to the hatch. His mission was to stop the numbers being entered into the computer, remember walt 'Numbers are bad' backward message. But the big thing revealed in the ep is that jack's dad was looking for his daughter....kate!!
This would'nt surprise me as the shows creators are both huge star wars fans!!
          Canadian promo http://www.lostlinks.net/

          A few big spoilers there!!!

During tonight's episodes on Channel 4 already seen them, but there was a spoof Advertising campaign for the Hanso Foundation during the breaks, with a telephone number, got through to an automated service which it spouted press such and such a number for certain people, anyone else tried it.

EDIT - Tried the number again couldn't get through.

Reminds me of the Datadyne Corp. Web Campaign for the original Perfect Dark.

The whole media frenzy over series 2 starting is kind of strange to see when you've nearly finished watching the whole season.

Makes you realise how insular the UK can be - I'd have thought by now everybody with any interest in the show would have known what was down the hatch !!!

Strange this morning though - My radio alarm switched on and that Mama Cass song was playing - spooked me for a second

I quite like the show but i think what would be a good idea for a dvd series release.

To have the option to watch either the show as it is or to have the island and flashback sections seperate (so you can watch all the island scenes or all the flashback scenes in one go)

                  Comment

The problem with that is the Island scenes in series two would last about three hours compared to the ten or so dedicated for flashbacks. It's generally that disproportionate.

Plus moments like last night 'Is that right BROTHER' wouldn't be as powerful...

I bet you wanted the events of Pulp Fiction put into chronological order too right? ;P

                        Or as ridiculous.

I'm not asking for 24 style pacing. Of course Lost has its own specific narrative style. The problem is it doesn't work in series two. The pacing is completely off.

If you thought series one was a prick tease wait until series two, in which barely anything happens after the first few episodes.

There's no interest for the large majority. The characters are so completely one dimesional (bar a couple) that there's little interest.

24 isn't much better in this area but it's succeeded this season by throwing around a hell of a lot of themes, plot strands and excitement. The actual structure, ploting and sense of momentum has been the making of 24 this term.

The reason why The Shield and The Sopranos are infinitely more superior (bar Six Feet Under, but that's finished now) at handling characterisation than the likes of Lost is because they make their characters interesting, human and refuse to easily caricature them. Lost tries to do this but the writing, slick overtones and the overt sign-posting completely kill the illusion.

Therefore, when you've got three quarters of the episodes in series two diving into the backstories of the characters it exposes the shortcomings that Lost isn't that great as a character-driven piece of drama.

People said in series one that the backstories helped make the show, and to an extent I would agree with that. There was a delicate balance between the progression on the island and the flashbacks which helped even everything out.

In series two though the format does become old and it does drag itself out.

                          IMO of course.

                              Personally i did wonder

why in series 2 they added more characters when there is supposed to be so many survivors in the first group

I did not mind the backstorys trouble was i thought some were far better then others like hurleys i thought was great

He's the character I like most out of them all.

Jack, Kate, Charlie, Sun, Soyer and the rest though can all take a running jump (don't read if you've just started watching series two on channel 4

especially the minor second crew cast).

Sayed and Hurley are the only two characters I'm interested in knowing more about from their past.
