We've been reporting the Futuama, "it ain't over till Dr. Zoidberg sings" rumors for months now. An update has finally leaked out, and it sounds like our prayers for original and funny television have been answered.

    Hopefully true.

      Fantastic news if true!

Hope they get a full team of writers back and return to the tight "not a second wasted" writing of the series. The movies were massive disappointments.

semi excited, the fact they're casting for characters is a worrying prospect though. New character voices when coupled with a different writing team can destroy a series (ie post rugrats movie when they changed grandpa).

Hopefully it gets back to the tight writing of the series and not the messy bloaty writing and plotting of the movies.

Maybe they are going for a few celebrity voices for additional characters, there would be an outrage if any of the main ones got recast.

Comedy Central was happy with the specials and with the 72 produced episodes of "Futurama" it acquired from 20th Century Fox TV in 2006. "Yet there is nothing like new, self-contained episodes week to week," said Comedy Central's senior vp programming David Bernath. "This is all about reinvigorating the franchise, giving it a new burst of energy. [...]

Whoo yeah! Definitely looking forward to any new eps they produce. I'd be stunned if they weren't going to use the original actors for the main characters.

If they change the voice actors then they may as well just cancel the show again as all of it's fans will die out.

Imagine the simpsons with a new cast - it would probably sound like a return to the first series, where you'd have homer sounding like fred flintstone and marge sounding like a cat stuck in a blender.

It's just casting for the extras or any new characters that last for more than one episode, won't be changing the original cast.

There's no way the original cast would leave, they're understandably in love with the cartoon.

I wonder if they will tie it in with it's 10th anniversary at the end of the year?
