Gonna trawl through all of her videos, but mainly to check she's not wearing your stolen fez.

Forgot to mention me and the lad saw Crosses a little while back in Kentish Town in That London. Their first ever UK gig. Crosses is basically Chino Moreno out of the Deftones and his synthy side project, which is a 2-piece. Think Defpeche Mode. Amazing gig, crazy energy from Moreno, and the synthy stuff sounds a lot heavier live than on record. Truly laughably appalling support in VOWWS, a band that shouldn't be.

Went to see Bobby Mandala's Midnight Elite @ The Finsbury in North London on Saturday evening.

Comedy jazz/funk/pop band. Reasonably enjoyable for the short and free gig that it was but probably wouldn't go out of my way to see them again. Excuse to get out of the house on a Bank Holiday Weekend night though!

Saw Killer Mike @ Scala (King's Cross) last night.

His solo work very different from his usual hi-energy output as one half of Run The Jewels, but still enjoyable Atlanta hip-hop with a vocally impressive array of backup singers.

Got tickets for the gig of the year! Lawnmower Deth on their own headline show in London!! I’m so excited. Just need transport and accommodation now.

So did anyone have any luck with Oasis ? ....I cannot stand Ticketmaster at all

Earlier in the year I'd been eyeing up Supersonic festival in Birmingham, but for a variety of reasons (read: violation of the restraining order QualityChimp took out) it didn't pan out. Thankfully, lots of the acts I'd wanted to see there also decided to tack on some London dates that were a bit less complicated for me to catch.

Sunday I got to see Emma Ruth Rundle at Bush Hall. She's been a key component of other bands (Marriages, Red Sparrowes, Nocturnes) that are great, but her solo stuff is also amazing and in general I cannot get enough of her output. Last time I saw her it was just her and a piano playing stuff from the Engine of Hell album, whereas this time it was just her and a guitar playing slowed down, stripped back versions of earlier material. Utterly captivating. One of those shows where if someone in the room said a word, EVERYONE instantly had eyes on them and they knew to shut back up.

Yesterday it was The Body and Dis Fig. I like most of The Body's output, but they've one of those bands who does a lot of collaborations (Uniform, Full of Hell, Thou...) that gives a pretty diverse breadth of styles. This latest album with Dis Fig is one of my favourites of the year, lending some great clean vocals on top of the distorted howls and electronics, and given they certainly don't tend to tour these kinds of collabs extensively, this felt like a bit of a treat.

In an ideal world I'd also go for the hattrick and booked to see Agriculture ("ecstatic black metal") tonight at The Black Heart, but I left it too late to book and also probably would've done myself a mischief being out 3 nights in a row. Hopefully I'll catch them another time.

... and nope, no Oasis for me. The only upside to that is that it's more lights being shone on how shady Ticketmaster is. The sooner that company is regulated / litigated into the ground, the better.

"But, but, but it was Oasis that demanded dynamic pricing!" whined Ticketmaster.

                  Get stuffed, you thieves!

There would be loads of things i would love for Ticketmaster to explain

Why they still let people queue if they know their are no tickets left ?

Why it often says “limited tickets available” when there are actually none.

Why the website has not improved over the umpteen years ….seems every time a big act puts tickets for sale it takes them by surprise…every single time.

Why have measures not been put in place that tickets cannot be resold straight away (hint….ticketmaster get a cut of the resale of the ticket)

How is Dynamic pricing fair ? .

Why if you get through the queue it cannot just say if tickets are available at other venues rather then having to queue again ?

How many tickets they have up that people can actually buy on presale and general sale ?

The big ones i want to know, how do ticketmaster leverage their monopoly against the artist and what the actual price set is dictated by the artist or Ticketmaster

Just read a beeb article on it, love this:

Ticketmaster has said it does not set the prices, which are down to the "event organiser", who "has priced these tickets according to their market value".
                      [...]
The "event organiser" ultimately means the promoters - SJM, Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, MCD and DF.

I should elaborate. The support act was on the line-up as "Lung & Fitness", and when I walked in I heard plenty of glitched out drums and electronics at chest-rattling volume, but saw absolutely no-one on stage. Eventually I came to realise that there were two small but very toned people - shirtless, sweaty, and heavily tattooed - that had carved out a space in the middle of the floor. I say eventually because I only realised this upon seeing them talking to one of the guys from The Body after the set, as during the set I couldn't see what they were doing at all over everyone else stood around them, only catching brief glimpses of flailing limbs and outfits being strewn about above their heads. Here is a video I have since found of another FITNESSS live performance.

I also can't tell what or even if it was being produced live. I did catch samples of Fennesz, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Nobuo Uematsu... at one point we had the whole opening of 'Goodbye Mr Lawrence' before the inevitable pivot back to noise. When already 15 minutes over their time slot, we then got the whole of 'Born Slippy'.

Saw Smif-N-Wessun at the Brixton Hootananny last night.

Fun throwback 90s Hip-Hop. First time at said venue though and it is pretty far out for Brixton. Not sure I'd go there again.

Saw Melt-Banana last night at Stereo in Glasgow. Tiny venue, crap view and really warm. Cracking set though but brief at about an hour long.

Saw Alicia Witt play at The Lexington in North London last night. Intimate solo unplugged/acoustic piano set. Folksy MOTR pop vibes.

Knew of her as an actress but was curious about her piano-playing, especially as she was something of a prodigy as a kid. Probably wouldn't go to see her again but show was decent enough for what it was.
