Got tickets for The Darkness/Ash and two tickets to Iron Maiden, baby.

Looked into getting Coldplay tickets, but although the queues gone down from 200K to about 20K, I'm not that bothered.

Given two of those are walking distance from me, I'll offer you mate's rates (I'll beat the Hilton by a fiver) at chez fuse, rounding out the 'experience' by playing "Are You Experienced" at eye watering volume as an alarm clock. No need to thank me.

Earlier this week went to see Zola Jesus at Grand Union, which in short is some event space inside the St Mary Magdalene Church down along little Venice. Rather than the band she usually plays with, this was just her and a piano. Very glad I checked times before and didn't do my usual "stumble in around 9pm" thing as this was early doors and no support - I'd have missed almost the entire thing. She's fab though - given her operatic background it makes complete sense why she's tried to do a tour of spaces just like this, and yeah paring these things back and focusing on the core elements really worked.

I didn't realise Ash were touring with The Darkness, need to see about tickets now.
Might have to catch Gnome too.

Went to see Swami John Reis (Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu, Rocket from the Crypt etc) with his new outfit Bed of Nails. Tiny wee venue in Edinburgh the Voodoo Rooms. Posh venue sounded great. Kind of like his Night Marchers era stuff. All good.

Saw Desperate Journalist play a brief (40-45 mins) set @ Rough Trade East earlier tonight for the launch of their new LP. They did album signing afterwards (everybody who attended got a free copy of the album with their ticket).

Set consisted of joints from the new album. Enjoyable post-punk.

(video below is a classic cut from their debut LP back in 2013)

I saw LeBrock last night in Dublin and holy **** they put on one hell of a show. Small gig and I felt bad for them because it wasn’t even near full but they brought so much energy. And at least the people who were there were clearly fans and knew all the songs. The vocalist is insanely good but what I didn’t expect was him to be really funny between tracks. Really likeable.

Not a gig as such, but I saw Mark and Lard in Shepherd's Bush on Thursday. Jolly good fun all round and a nostalgic trip through their daytime show stuff. (Nothing about the breakfast show or Radcliffe's previous evening show though, which was a bit of a bummer).

Went to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor last night at the Barrowland Ballroom. EPIC. Simple as that.

so glad Oasis arn't a band i've ever really liked to be honest, definitely back in the day i was Team Blur

Anyway my next concert is next month, Kasabian featuring the streets in Glasgow

Always wanted to see the streets even though after listening to their back catalogue, some of it isn't really that good - but the songs that are good are amazing

It will be my 3rd time seeing Kasabian, got into them really late and all concerts Serge has been the singer, i know the hate he brings from the old loyals, but i just don't get it, he belts out the songs perfectly and is a great showman

i love going to live concerts mainly for the atmosphere but enjoy watching the support acts and if i think they are any good i try and see them

Nothing but thieves Supported Muse at the 02 so i managed to see them at the barrowlands and their support was Yoneka, who was amazing but I haven't seen her with any dates up North which is a shame

Kinda opens up music that i probably wouldn't have listened to otherwise

Same with Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Bobby Vylan and Yungblud

Yeah, Blur all the way for me.

Kasabian are great and that last album was really good, especially the track "Algorithms".
Old singer, Meighan, assaulted his then-fiancee, so can totally understand why they parted ways.

This is one of those moments where you ask if you can separate art from artist.
If you're OK letting a wife-beater carry on in your fave band because you like the way he sings, I personally think you're on a slippery slope to getting a Gary Glitter tattoo.

The Streets were brilliant at Glasto/Isle of Wight this summer, should be great!

                          Remember your rule, Buster!
Every time you take a girlfriend to a gig, she breaks up with you afterwards, so make sure you go solo!

"Does anyone know what happened at the Godspeed You Black Emperor gig?
In the middle back of the standing area, half way through, people were shining lights on someone.
                              I was curious why."

"I was there. Some dude kept farting. We asked him to leave over and over and he refused.
Then, he basically crapped himself and we were using lights to find where the poop was so we didn't step on it.
                              Worst night ever."
