Saw Orange Goblin at KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton.
Last time I went it was the same band and I was freeeeezing, but I was warmer this time.

Opening act, Conan, were this thunderous doom rumble that I really enjoyed because they had some great visuals on a loop showing bits of old fantasy films like Krull, but also there was a clip of Ghouls and Ghosts that made me laugh, but it was a great mood.

OG had some technical issues early on with a wahwah pedal killing the whole pedalboard, so guitarist Joe went straight into his Marshall and the show continued.
That for me is the joy of a live show - you never really know what will happen and that's something no other show on the tour will get to see and it shows just how ace and versatile their guitarist is!

The pedals returned and we got some wah and various effects again and it was a great show.
They'll have been together for 30 years next year!

Bit of a cheat, but I paid for tickets to watch the livestream of Weezer's The Blue Planet tour where they play a bunch of hits and then the whole of the Blue Album.

It was a really good show with a bit of time spent on a fun intro where they're astronauts getting into a rocket, which is onstage and it lifts off revealing the band.
Throughout the show, a large screen is telling a (very slight) story of them flying to the Blue Planet, but it definitely adds to the atmosphere.

They played loads of hits like "Pork 'n' Beans", "Hash Pipe" and some Pinkerton stuff before playing The Blue Album and from the opening jangle of "My Name is Jonas", I was grinning ear-to-ear. I love this album and used to listen to it on my Walkman as I did my paper round (flip over between "Undone (The Sweater Song)" and "Surfwax America"!), so I've a real soft spot for it.

        Loved it!

I saw Tailgunner last night at KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton.
Support was from Battle Borne. I thought their name was Battle Bong, which would've been funnier.
They were great, though - Jackson Flying Vs, synth solos, swords, chainmail - the lot.

          Tailgunner were even better.
If Heavy metal and mullets, is how you were raised, Maiden and Priest were the gods that you pra, ised, then you need to check this band out!
They're still touring their debut album, "Guns For Hire", which is great, but they're a live band playing shows fit for a stadium, no matter the venue size.
they're running around with Laserpistols, flags, revolution placards, synchonised headbanging and doing guitar solos on platforms.

Each one is talented, but I could watch new guitarist, Rhea Thompson, effortlessly shred all day.

If you love NWBHM and wonder where the NNWBHM bands are, they're right here!

Saw No Cars @ Two Palms in Hackney last night. Their first gig in six years and the first time I've seen them in a decade.

Comedy Japanese Pop/Punk/Rock. Eccentric to say the least but fun for what it was.

Went to see The Last Dinner Party at Hammersmith Apollo last night. Not exactly part of my staple diet, but I was intrigued enough by the hype to have stuck the album on a few times, and I quite like it. Felt like I was the oldest person in the crowd, but it turns out this guy had me beat by some stretch. Have tickets to see Kim Deal in conversation with Adam Buxton tonight too, not sure if I'll make it out though at this point.

Beyond psyched at the news that Chat Pile are touring UK and Europe early next year with The Hirs Collective.

Just got back home from seeing Pete Rock @ Electric Brixton. If you're a hip-hop fan and you don't know who he is, you've failed.

90 minute turntable DJ set of his playing a mix of new stuff and classics, especially the legendary track below which obviously got the greatest reaction.

Went to see Molchat Doma at SWG3 last night. Really enjoyed it, they’re like a moody Belarussian take on Depeche Mode. It was funny watching the punters in the bar before hand. I’ve never seen so many gender presenting, mullet wearing, corpse painted people in one place!

Boa were playing in the adjacent venue and I’m saying to the good lady I remembered a band of that name. It featured in the Serial Experiments Lain anime soundtrack and featured the talents of Paul Roger’s children. But given the young age of the punters in the queue I thought it was another band. But it wasn’t apparently the song from Lain, called Duvet, went viral on social media. Can’t imagine what that set was like waiting on The Big One.

Funnily enough I remember seeing a "2023" version of the video for that on YouTube last year, but I don't think it twigged why or what was happening. Looking further I found this article which explains in a bit more detail - signed to a new label to begin work on a third album, even!

Saw [ K S R ] at the Sebright Arms in East London last night.

Smooth RnB/Soul/Neo-Soul vibes. I've caught him live a few times now (last saw him around this time last year and posted about it in here too!) and his shows are always enjoyable.

This Saturday just gone I went to see Hatsune Miku. Some friends were in town for it, so I figured I'd tag along for the outing even knowing vocaloid music isn't my thing. This was like a noble, anthropologic endeavour, yeah? I still don't get it, but said friends (and many, many others) were clearly having a great time, so I'm happy for them.

I went to see Wednesday 13 performing The Murderdolls on Friday night at the QMU in Glasgow. Can't say I'm a fan but the man is a natural frontman.

I went to see Russian Circles at Slay in Glasgow last night. They’re a three piece instrumental group. If you like bass guitar and tight drum skins these lads will be right up your street. Very good set.

Just had a quick listen! Yeah, they sound great and will investigate, cheers!

They're probably up there with the bands I've seen the most times, and I'm adding to that number on Sunday at EartH in Hackney. Last time I saw them there I got to meet Brian (bass) and got an album signed and a picture with him. Love them to bits, and delighted to hear others checking them out!
