I thought it was great, almost as good as the first one which is a real treat as the first was the best blockbuster since the original Pirates imo. This is easily the best blockbuster of 2009. The story was decent enough, I still love the witwicky characters and the special effects were immense - The fight in the forest was stunning.

Too many robots that meant nothing to me brings the film down a peg or two, and it doesn't quite have the same charm as the original, but other than that it was pretty much spot on.

also the footage in the movie made it look like a cruiser rather than an aircraft carrier
That's what you want us to think. Plus

It wasn't the Stennis that fired the rail gun, the Captain radioed another ship in the Gulf, it was supposed to be a destroyer = no error.

I thought the film was overall fairly enjoyable but it was massively, massively too long. Should have been half the length it was.

Loved the military porn in the final battle and especially the bits with Starscream in flight, some great shots there. I've now changed my wallpaper to a picture of a Raptor in his honour.

i never said the stennis fired the shot, just for some reason i never heard the officer give the command to the destroyer and then i didn't see the shot pan around the ship prior to the shot

unsure why i missed these since i'm just back from the IMAX in glasgow and it was plain as day

anyway the ship was the USS Preble and i was on an Arleigh Burke class ship only last month (USS Arleigh Burke) and they must have had their rail gun under some quantum cloaking technology as it looked like a normal 4.5 or 5 inch gun

        Preble's homepage

also Naval gunfire support is never that accurate without constant spotters

also i didn't really get on with the IMAX experience

        the

        Acree/Sideswipe vs Sideways fight

didnt seem as interesting and it stated there was more action in the IMAX version, i didn't see any difference in the movie at all unless it was because IMAX is better

they are already pushing Harry Potter because the IMAX version has some 3d scenes

They look cool those Arleigh Burke class ships. I'm surprised they didn't also lay down some Tomahawks to support the Autobots.

Saw the 2nd movie last night. It is the business! Up there with the first one. More of the same which is what I wanted.

Quality stuff. Hope the Blu-Ray is out in time for Xmas.

Went & saw the second one finally last night & I have mixed views.

In places it more awesome than an awesome thing with a good reason to be awesome.

In other places it sucked arse.

I understand the need for a comedy element as it was quite a moody film this time round but for me there was far too much comedy in it & it ruined alot of the movie for me.

I really didnt get on with a few of the new TF's either...they were just plain silly.

All in all though I did enjoy it from an action film perspective.

Looking forward to the Blu-Ray so I can skip all the junk & go straight to the action

I enjoyed the first film for what it was and Transformers was my first big craze as a child so I do have an appreciation of all things Transformers but I wasn’t really impressed by this.

Some of the key issues with the first film haven’t been learnt from at all. I still could barely make out one Transformer from another during the fight scenes (too many times I was left wondering who had just been killed. Also, still far too much time was given over to the human characters and the army battling. This isn’t what we paid to see.

Finally, many of the new Transformers added were neglected to the point that I wondered what they were even included for in the first place. Sideswipe and Arcee suffered a lot from this but at least they were named. I don’t know who the random grey Decepticons towards the end were supposed to be. The only new characters who get any real screen time and personality were Skidz and Mudflap (who were awful).

The film is not without its merits. When they actually did have Autobot vs Decepticons action the battle scenes were impressive on a technical level (especially the forest part) and it was cool that they developed the Megatron/Starscream relationship which was vaguely hinted at in the first film.

                    Disappointing/10

You've come back with exactly the same problems as me.
Being like you a TF fan from the very beginning it pains me to see that they are a back seat diversion to the Human sub plot.
It should be the other way round as it was in the cartoon.

Likewise I found the Twins an abomination & shouldnt have been there at all
There are only one set of true TF twins...Sunstreaker & Sideswipe.
Oh & on the subject of Sideswipe...I nearly wet myself when he turned up only to be woefully let down by the substandard use of him
Also Arcee was barely even there couldnt believe the way they were handled.

The Megs/Starscream interaction made me smile...felt more like the cartoon then oh & Peter Cullens Prime always makes me go all watery eyed & nostalgic, that is still a stroke of genius getting him back for the voice.

Still all told it is what it is...an action film with big Robots & I did enjoy it & will deffinitley watch it again.

I'm trying to block that memory at the moment...When he first showed up I thought "Wahey here we go...this is what I signed in for" then they did sweet FA with him & I nearly wept at the end of the film for such a waste

They way he was used was an abomination to me & one I'm longing to forget.

since i havent watched anything Transformers related except the movies, does Soundwave have a cassette tape inside him? and if i'm correct, is that what ravage is prior to him changing into an tiger or something?

Whilst Soundwave’s implementation wasn’t perfect, it was actually one of the stronger transitions from cartoon to movie. The way he was more focussed on espionage and counter-surveillance was very accurate in my opinion.

And Ravage was very cool too.

Just a shame they didn’t recreate his voice patterns.

                                He does indeed.
In the original Cartoons he took the form of a Cassette Walkman & all his little minions were in the form cassettes.

                                Main Cartoon minions were...

                                Ravage - Cat
                                Frenzy - Robot
                                Rumble - Same as Frenzy
                                Lazerbeak - Birdy
                                Buzzsaw - Birdy
                                Ratbat - Bat
                                Slugfest - Dinosaur
                                Overkill - Dinosaur
                                Squaktalk - Parrot
                                Beastbox - Gorilla

Recently in Japan they actually released a version of Soundwave that was a working MP3 player that transformed & everything just like the G1 version.
They also made headphones that transformed in Rumble & Frenzy.
