Of course, why not? BD has much more resolution. It benefits any high resolution source.

Gonna watch The Nightmare Before Christmas tonight, heard good things about the picture quality. Hope I am not disappointed!

As far as 2D animation goes, I think that could be where the most benefit can be made with high def. Plus its worth buying Sleeping Beauty for the sheer ££££ it will be worth in a few years.

Worth the money forking out for the Godfather set? Strider didn't really convince me either way, impression I'm getting is that it could be better? I don't know! Don't own the trilogy in the US, so I could do with some copy...

From the quick look I took, they all look as I expected. The third one is especially detailed and filmic.

Thank's Lyris, could do with watching it again either way. Have never been able to watch all of the third one though, I've tried so many times!

I've never watched any of them from start to finish. A three hour movie is going to have to be super, super amazing before I get bored, and not to sound sour but I doubt it'll live up to the hype.

If anything I would say the first Godfather is a little too short, sometimes it feels like things/events that would give you a better feeling of how much time has passed have been removed.

...news that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Iron Man' has been recalled. A few weeks back, some of those receiving review copies reported trouble playing the disc in their Blu-ray players. Apparently, there is an authoring problem with the disc, and distributors have been issued direction to send back all product.
Possible delay in the street date to October 7th.

There are issues with it playing properly on select Sony players. My copy plays fine on a PS3. Also, Paramount says it will all be fixed by street date next Tuesday.

I miss the extra material from Godfather I + II that was in the Epic cut (for TV). It was issued on VHS and is there in deleted scene form on disc but the extra materal from II (mainly De Niro stuff) really adds to it. It's just such a shame that it was re-edited in chronological order, and hence ruins much of II. I know there are fan edits with all the deleted material stuck back in, but still.

I saw Godfather 1 last night. It's an expensive buy stateside, spent $70 on the set (did come with a large fancy book of quotes though) Yeah, I'm thinking the colours are washed out still, there's plenty of scenes like the movie studio where cars are ill defined and it really isn't doing much of anything an up scale wouldn't do. Waste of money.

Whats the audio on Godfathers set?

I've not watched it yet (my amp is away getting replaced, damn Onkyo "E2PROM ERROR"). Isn't that just how the film looks, sepia-tinted and kinda golden?

But that was my original point mate
It may well be accurately capturing Coppolla's original vision, but many people will no doubt be put off by it because it looks nothing like back catalogue releases like Blade Runner and 2001.

Still, I'm well aware of both your and angry's opinion on this aspect of Bluray, but I'm hardly surprised to see negative comments about its 'supposed quality' starting to trickle through now. A shame really, as after sitting down in a darkened room I was totally sucked in.
