Blu-Ray Best Of The Best - for discussing releases only

According to play.com Nausicaa of The Valley of The Wind is getting a blu-ray release on the October 18th. It may well have been announced before but I had no idea it was on the way over here.

For anybody who sent of their Gladiator disc for a replacement, I received mine about a week ago so if you're still waiting it hopefully be too long to get to you.

Bought Lost Season 1 for the mighty sum of £10 today. By God, it looks stunning! The DVD was nice but this is something else.

It took forever to start watching it because, as I have a Japanese PS3, all the menus defaulted to Japanese. Even with them all switched to English in the XMB everything was all in Japanese!

Don't know what's going on there.

If anyone's wondering, the fixed Gladiator BDs are showing up in shops now. I suspect there was a new run to coincide with Robin Hood being out today.

The easiest way to tell which one is on sale is to look at the back of the box for a Pocket Blu logo in amongst the logos for studios and DTS etc on the back. Apparently the year in the copyright gubbins now says 2010 instead of 2009 as well, but I didn't notice.

I would have bought it if HMV, which is pretty much the only game in town around here for Blu-ray now, hadn't been asking ?22 for it. It's less than ?10 on most websites!

There's a thread for it over on AV Forum too. Apparently on certain players you get a menu asking for your preferred language when the disc starts. The PS3 is not one of these.

Got them all now although I've not started watching Season 6 yet as I'd rather watch them through starting from the first again.

They look so much better but the increase in image quality really draws attention to the poor quality CGI sequences for me. They were awful in SD but they really draw me out of the experience when watching them in HD.

Play's sending out the new version of Gladiator now, apparently. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but someone on AV Forums got it from there and got the fixed one.
